Re: Languages
I'm only fluent in English, but I can understand a decent amount of Cantonese since it's what my parents speak at home, mainly. I also suffered through over 10 years of Chinese School, which was not the most effective but I can still speak, read and write, to some extent, basic conversational Mandarin. I plan to take Mandarin courses in college as well, as while I'm proud of my Cantonese heritage Mandarin is more useful in the world. (and you couldn't really find a Cantonese course in school...)
Also, I take Italian at school, which I'm quite good at, definitely enough to have a decent conversation. Still have lots of room for improvement though! And while I was at camp I had two deaf friends, brothers, so my friends and I learned some sign language to communicate. They're better at it than me but I still know a good amount of words, and the alphabet.
So... parts of: English, Cantonese, Mandarin, Italian and some sign language!
