is a nation located in the Caribbean region
lies west of Puerto Rico and east of Cuba and Jamaica
we share the island with haiti.
making it one of two Caribbean islands that are occupied by two countries,
Saint Martin being the other.

European settlement in the Americas;
its capital Santo Domingo was also the first colonial capital in the Americas.
It is the site of the first cathedral,first university, first European-built road,
first European-built fortress, and more.

The Dominican Republic is divided into 31 provinces. Additionally, the national capital, Santo Domingo.
