Re: Have you ever been called wannabe Asian?
I'm 100% Chinese (although there are subdivisions among Chinese ethnic groups as well as many people fail to realize), and well, I find that 99% of Asian wannabes are actually Japanese wannabes. Their attitude can honestly be rather offensive. While they refer to "Asians" as being great (they're white), they only really mean Japan - so far as to say "no other Asian is as good as a Japanese! That's great but I don't care, it's not Japanese. I wish I was born Japanese." And go on to speak one or two Japanese phrases they learned from anime ("it's so sugoi and kawaiiii desu!!!")
I have watched anime before, and played video games sure, but it really bugs me how they don't acknowledge the merits of any other Asian country. I'm not saying having an interest in Asian things makes you an Asian wannabe, but the "Japanophiles" honestly get on my nerves :/
