Writing names from English to Korean can often have many different possibilities though, for example I asked some Koreans how I'd write my name, Caitlin, and 케이틀린 was the most common answer, so I stuck with that, but then recently when I started my Korean class, the teacher wrote my name on the board as 캐틀린, so now I use that. ^^

Syantae? I would probably write, "산테" just to make it easier [San-te], just like what your teacher did. Writing more letters than needed is so unnecessary.
