Cosplay Costume Idea's-I'm not light skinned :s

I want to go to this cosplay thingy in my city thats right by the harbor and all the Japanese manga authors come and sign autographs and there are these cool stalls with Japanese/Korean/Chinese goods for cheap...anyways, I'm African American and I know most manga/anime characters are light skinned. Who could I go as and pull it off? (I'm actualy pretty light skinned compared to most African American's and my avatar pic has bad lighting so you can't really see, but I'm not light light light like Caucasian or Asian people)

I think that you would look truly awesome as either Blue or Anthy. And with Blue, the costume that you would need would probably be bvery simple

I was thinking of that dudette from Revolutionary Girl Utena as well ;3 But to be honest, the first character that pops to my mind is Fran from Final Fantasy XII... She's pretty dark-skinned (even though she doesn't look like it in the picture I posted). But her costume looks like a royal pain in the arse ><

And possibly Dona from Final Fantasy X. I didn't find any pics of her, but I managed to dig up this video on YouTube (she's the first character that is shown).
