Knee high socks?

So I'm in a country where no one wears this style. They don't even wear under knee socks!

But I've loved this style ever since I've seen it in japanese dramas and fashion pics, and I got myself several pairs.

Stupid question: when and how do you wear knee high socks? I say this because - I have some that are thin (like a thinm but opaque pantyhose material) but it felt weird to wear them during winter with part of the leg being naked (you know what I mean?) so I wore them with supersheer stockings underneith.

But now it's summer, and it feels like I can't wear them because it's too hot outside?

Another stupid question: When I did wore them, I got weird looks, and some rude catcalls. Apparently, some people thought the outfit was very sexy (totally not what I was going for - apart from the socks, I had cute casual baggy clothes). Do you get that where you live? How do you deal with it?

I get that too. Usually I wear them with shorts and a baggy looking t-shirt and usually sneakers or those slip on shoes. People sometimes still give me weird looks.

Don't mind those people, they're just ignorant to something called PERSONAL STYLE.
I guess they were thrown off by the material, but the fact that it's a knee-high is like... whut? How's that sexy, you silly people? LOL. I wear knee-highs with shorts and skirts. I even bought some black opaque tights to wear with my shorts (VERY CUTE LOOK!) even during summer! I got looks from other girls, but (I'm gonna be very conceited right now) I think they were a little jealous of my style because they gave me the look-over, you know? Girls over here pretty much copy each other, it's pretty sad... which is why I try my best to wear whatever I want in my own style to see how people will react.

....Did that make sense? I started to ramble, sorry.. ^^;

I might be weird, but I like it when people stare at me like that. They like... Looks at the two different over the knee socks... Up to the puffy neon pink skirt... And to the t-shirt with a silly print... And turn embarrassed away XD

But here in Norway there are actually not so few people who has crazy styles, so when I se those people they look at my clothes and smile ^^

Well, I don't wear high socks in the summer because I'd melt away, but whenever it is not to warm: put on layers of layers of pantyhoses and tights if it is reallly cold, and then the socks on the top of it. It looks awesome!
And in the spring and autumn just wear them with ANYTHING, especially short puffy skirts, bubble shorts, baggy dresses or LARGE t-shirts.

One time I was on the way with a friend, we saw a cute girl wearing knee socks with a skirt.
My friend was confused with this style and always tried to make me look at her, so she could babble about her (I think it's annoying to talk about other people who didn't do a bad thing to you...). She said, this girl could wear these see-through socks with garters instead (don't know the English word), if she wants to look naughty to others.

I really don't know why other people think of knee socks/overknees this way.
I think coordinated right, they look more cute than sexy. They can compliment an outfit so well <3 ~ .

I just don't get it why people have such a hard time when you stand out a bit. I love to run around in funny stuff and don't care what they think but then they start calling names they kill it.

i loove knee highs
a year ago i bought these thigh highs from sockdreams.. but these are hard to wear. i own six pair but i think one or two of them i didn't wore yet.. they are verry long ang thick (ooy now is summer, shame...), i'd need to always wear short skirts, mean very short and i would totally do it if people wouldn't look strange.. i have these socks in white and when i once wore them someone thought i was injured or something xDD

HELLZ YEAH! That's what I've wanted to do too, but my legs are so fat so my garter doesn't look that great on me anymore LOL. I've been wanting to wear it with denim shorts, so that it'll still look awesome and not "trashy" or whatever fashion-ignorant people would say these days! >>;

Personally I think knee high socks are fine.
I say wear then with a pair of shorts, a nice shirt and some flats/ballet slippers. It is possible to wear them under sheer stockings just as long as it coordinates and you don't go overboard. These images may help too.

Knee socks look good with knee boots, especially if it has a nice design and its just poking out on the top. But its also great with skirts that are just above the knees. They're usually only worn in colder days to keep your legs warm while you can flounce about in skirts.

I love wearing knee-high socks! Especially when they've got funky colors or patterns on them. =)

I like to wear them in different ways. Sometimes I'll wear them with shorts and flats, or with fitted capris / bermuda shorts with sneakers, or if I want to go into school-girl mode, I'll wear them with a skirt and a simple button-down shirt and a fun-colored tie.

at my old school, knee high socks were compulsory. if you wore a skirt you had to have long socks, so its not such a big thing to wear them around town or wherever coz people are used to seeing them. i have knee highs now but i mostly wear my over the knee socks. i wore them all the time at winter with a skirt, black thin leggings or black tights and my long socks and calf high boots. plus a cut tank top and cardigan or sweater. for summer they are nice to wear in the evenings when its a bit chilly but not cold. so you can still wear a skirt or shorts but not get chills. or you could go for knee high baggy leg warmers with ballet pumps, thats a really cute look too.

I'd like to thank the porn and costume industry for turning knee and thigh high socks into something that people now think are for whores and sluts. That's why you get lot's of people whistling, staring, or people who even ask how much for a night!

A girl on /fa/ had made a post in a thread about thigh highs yesterday actually. She had said she wore some thigh highs with a skirt one day and she got lot's of hooting and whistling at her. Someone actually even TOUCHED the back of her thigh and laughed when she got mad at him.

Basically, some people are stupid enough to think you're a postitute or slutty just for wearing them. It's kind of funny how wearing thigh highs + a skirt is thought of as more slutty than just a skirt though.

But, who cares. Just wear them anyways! There are plenty of guys who love them and actually wish girls would wear them more often. (That was close to everyone in that same thread yesterday, as well as previous threads on /fa/ about the same topic).

I don't get how that can be so "sexy" ..but then again after reading DeadTree's comment I remembered how the porn industry is a help to that. And also maybe it's the fact you're wearing something short (skirt/shorts) and topping it off with thigh highs or knee socks and the fact that leaving the little bit of exposed skin just excites people into thinking that "you're leaving the rest to the imagination" or something along the lines to that. I don't know if anyone understood what I was just babbling about..LOL.

I like knee high socks too. I recently picked up some from Wet Seal. They were black knee high socks with hearts on them. I saw them in the store and I felt like I just had to have them. I guess with knee high socks, it depends on the person.

Anyways. I wear knee high - socks with my uniform, and if I ever go out in it some older perves gimme weird looks...grrr. For some reason their attracted to them... my boyfriend loves them too...

It's just the burden to bear with the cuteness!
