my hairs goin more & more dead each day.. it used to be so healthy

i think i bleached, dyed & straightened it too much.. now its like.. dry.. split ends.. DEAD

what should i do..? cut it all off..? i dont wanna do that.. it takes me ages to grow my hair & i know i wont suit short hair

does anyone have any good suggestions on treatments at home i can buy..? i was thinkin about the TIGI bedhead leave in treatment..
it smells sooooooooo nice !!



i know i cant have silky hair agains.. im not expecting a miracle to happen.. but at least i wanna prevent further damage & make it less frizzy

My hair was a little more frizzy than I wanted it to be before too. You should chop off at least your split ends. It makes such a great difference ^-^ Also, the salon I went to gave me a deep conditioning treatment for free when I went to color my hair. At normal price, its about $20, I believe.

An absolute GREAT leave-in conditioner I found is from MilkShake called Whipped Cream. It leaves your hair soooo soft & silky & not oily or weighed down in the least. (& it smells like a dessert XD) Great for handling frizz~



Other than that, I'd suggest just giving your hair a rest. IE, don't bleach/dye it and lessen up on straightening :3 or if you must straighten your hair, use a heat-protective spray/shampoo on your hair prior to.

Just cut off a good amount but definitely not all.

Just enough to stop the split ends. Otherwise, the split ends will travel up and damage even more hair.

Cut it in a hairdo that looks good with minimal to no styling. A bob maybe? They're cute.

Then, and this is the hard part - don't do anything to it - no straightening, no spray, no curling iron, no bleach, no dye (if you must jazz it up - use clip on hair extensions). This should last a year.

Also, use hair butter/hair treatment every time you wash (even though they recommend using it) even if they recommend doing it only one time a month.


Remember that hair treatments can only do so much, and most of it is temporary (till the next wash). Your hair is dead tissue, once it's harmed, it won't regenerate back.

BTW, when you cut it, DON"T let the hairdresses thin it out, or use razor thinning.

I did this to get rid of 3 cm of bad hair that was left at the ends, and she ended up cutting 10cm, and then thinning the hell out of what was left.

It's been 2-3 months and because of all that thinning, my hair looks like it hasn't grown an inch in lenght, only that it stopped being so thinned.

Also, the hairdo was so particular, now it looks like crap that it's grown some but I'm not cutting it again, until every strand is over my shoulder damnit!

Before this it was at my shoulders, now to get it back I'll probably wait till xmas and to get to the long hair till probably next year

Definitely you should get the dead part cut off. I've had my hair cut with a razor after going through the same thing... I don't see whats wrong with it? I have really thick hair so its ideal because it makes it seem less poofy and healthier. But, they should cut off the dead part first and THEN do a proper hair cut.
I use SunSilk HydraTLC shampoo and conditioner and it is soooo good for my hair. Also I use this Tresemme Heat Protectant spray for before using my hair dryer or straightener and it is great Every now and then I use this really intense Tresemme conditioner that comes in a little jar... It makes my hair sooo soft. Maybe try those! They are not too expensive

Yea just like everyone else had said. get your ends cut off, get rid of all the split ends and use leave in conditioner!!! lol and try to use less products in your hair as well like hairspray/gel. and try to straighten/curl it less often.
If you want smooth silky hair, I suggest you don't do anything with your hair, and leave it to naturally grow again. and once in awhile cut the fried hair off...then eventually you'll have awesome hair that everyone will be jealous of! hahahh XD

Definitely like everyone has said, get a good part of it cut off, and I suggest that if your going to keep bleaching it, dying and straightening (which I do quite often and I go to beauty school, so shame on me for being a stylist with dead hair) but to keep my hair incheck, I use ENJOY stuff, their AMAZING and keeps my hair amazing, even if I flat iron it.

but by far the best is CHI products for flat ironing your hair, and Biosilk leave-in. Its also amazing

Cailey & Tsuyako: i use the Tressemme Heat Protectant spray too!! It works well but i think my damage is caused by all the bleaching & straightening.. The Tressemme conditioner..? nothing puts a smile on my face better than products that works & costs less. im going to the supermarkets to go check it out today.. hope i can find it

Well i mainly use conditioners that are meant for dried out hair. Sunsilk works best for me, that and Herbal Essences and garnier. All those name brand things which are kindof expensive worked well for my hair. Which is why I only buy them on sale or when my hair needs it. I just bleached my bangs and dyed my hair the other day, so my hair is like dried out. But I'm using sunsilk and my hair is almost back to normal. And I'm not even using the type of sunslik ment for damanged hair. Shampoos and Conditioners are my thing, but idk what really works.

ENJOY products can be bought exclusively through a stylist or certain supply stores.
Paul Mitchel, MAtrix Biolage are also both very good brands to keeping hair healthy if you cant get ahold of ENJOY.

I went through exactly the same thing and ended up cutting my hair really short. I miss it loads but at least its gonna grow back healthier. I was actually at the point where my hair was getting shorter as the split ends went up my hair.

1. You need to stop bleaching it if you are still. This dryes your hair so it breaks easier and you get more split ends.

2. Stop straightening it! I'm doing a total hair detox and it grows faster as you don't have to keep getting it cut to get rid of the split ends.

3. Blowdry it on cold if you can't let it dry naturally. This will help it get in better condition as the hair won't keep drying out.

If you want a long look get clip in extensions. They can be wayy cheaper than glue ones and you dont have to always wear them. The only thing is you need to have a layered look to blend them in well.

oh I know how you feel. im vietnamese so I have naturally black hair nd I've had my hair bleached 3 times for blonde highlights. the first time was ok but after the 2nd time my hair was damaged and the 3rd time my hair was fried. well first I stopped the bleaching, dying, highlighting, and straightening. don't wash ur hair everyday because it strips your hair of natural oils. buy a deep conditioner (terax brand is great) and use it one a week. queen helenes hot oil treatments are awsome too. you can buy a nightime hair mask which you also use once a week. if you MUST blow dry your hair make shure you use a good heat protector and use the cool air setting. I dyed my hair back to its natural color so I wouldn't have to keep up with mine highlights nd damage it further. trim split ends off about once or twice a month. I did all this nd my hair is very healthy now although I do need to trim some split ends off. you can also use a split end protector. there are loads of shampoos out there that are specially made for damaged nd color treated hair. just make shure you buy salon brand like redken or bedhead because walmart kind don't work well. last thing I can think of is not to be a product junkie because hairspray can really ruin your hair. ok if you do any of that it will help. you might not think its working cuz it takes time, I notcied a difference in a couple of months.
