Default What to do w/ bumpy hair

To Laydee Jammers :: you laydees know how when you tie your hair into a ponytail nd later when you take out the hairband there's a deep dent in your hair? well I get that a lot because I use headbands nd I don't like washing my hair everyday cuz its unhealthy. I know everyones probably going to tell me to straighten it but that doesn't work with me cuz if I do my hair will stick up nd look really wierd. however I part my hair when its wet is how it will stay when its dry. so I was hoping someone could help me?

I usually just brush it out and later it goes away, but it takes a while. It works better with one of those large paddle brushes, not combs.

Wait, so you don't wash your hair every day? My roots feel a little oily if I don't wash my hair every day. Plus, my hair feels softer after I wash it and dry it.

I only wash my hair every other day.

Usually my kinks in my hair will fix itself in my sleep and I just straighten it a bit the next day (not pin/fully straighten it but just run it quickly through with a hair straightener so that it looks smoother).

Brush it after removing your headband.
And you can use some 'leave on' or to straigthen your hair (or at least lessen the wavy/curves) within the day. I usually apply Citre Shine (check it online) whenever I go out.

just brush it
or tie it into a bun to make the dent less obvious

i usually just mess up my hair. that makes it less obvious too.

don't put your hair back while it is still wet, for two reasons.

1) your hair strands have many little hydrogen bonds. the only things that break the bond is heat or water. when the hair dries or cools the bonds will re-form and your hair strand will be changed in shape until you break the bonds again.

2) your hair is stretchy when it's wet and as it dries it will shrink in size. if your pony tail is too tight, it will keep the hair from shrinking and your hair strands will break.

if you're going to keep doing it anyway, as i said in number one, the only way to break those re-formed bonds and get your hair straight again is to get it wet or flat-iron it. you don't necessarily have to wash your hair again, you could simply rinse it with conditioner.

Oh... that's easy right? If I do think I know what you're talking about...

But what you can do is lift the dented bunch up at the roots on your scalp and wet it down with your other hand, then brush it into place.

Or if you want you can skip the water, brush it, and use hairspray.

That sort of happens... all the time... I think..?
