don't be self-conscious about dandruff! it's sooo common, you really shouldn't worry about it! but if it's itching you, maybe it's psoriasis? i would recommend seeing somebody about it
i love my dandruff though just because i love to pick it out and that gives me something to do whenever I'm bored or even when i'm not bored lol

Yeah, go to a doctor, he will help you
My mum is a pharmacist and I remember her saying that nizoral really works and it helped many people who were asking her for advice.

ohh man i used to have to use shampoo like that--it had tar in it and your fingers would always be extremely sticky and then, while washing your hair, your fingers would get stuck in your hair and you'd pull your hair a lot i hated it. BUT, it helped!

Re: kind of embarassing...
Your dandruff may not be all that bad. If you use a lot of gel or conditioner, and forget to wash it out, it builds up and itches like crazy. That could be making it worse for you!!

Re: Kind of embarassing...
I read somewhere that tea tree oil also helps in getting rid of itchy scalp and dandruff.

Re: Kind of embarassing...
Try Head and Shoulders and massage it very well into your scalp! If it continues, your doctor can refer you to a skin care specialist

Re: Kind of embarassing...
Head & Shoulders doesn't work for me.
Selsun Blue works wonders tho! Get the medicated one (it has a red cap).
Massage & leave it on your scalp for a minute then wash it off! Works everytime, trust me! Get it anywhere like Walgreens or CVS.

You probably have seborrhea dermatitis or whatever it's called... I have it too, and it's annoying, but I put tea tree in my shampoos and conditioners and it seems to work wonders. I just hate how often I have to wash it. You also might want to check your diet and eat more fish... That seemed to help me a bit too from the natural oils I think.
