Ah, regarding tea - I just drink very sweet-smelling teas, instead of adding sugar - like black tea with rose petals, or green tea with jasmine, or my absolute fav herbal tea - anison!

UPDATE: I ran yesterday and today! LOL, just 200m, several times, with intervals of brisk walking in between. The first time I was so out of breath my chest hurt, and I was seeing stars and flying monkeys . The second time my chest hurt, but less, and I was dizzy, but not that dizzy... Eh, small improvement I guess...

But damn, can't wait for the day when I can run a km in one go. I've never been able to do it, ever, so it would be an achievement for me.

Ok, I have a question for you guys~~

I've lost some weight on my legs/thighs area BUT my body is absolutely refusing to lose weight on my top half...namely, my boobs and I hate it so much.

I can never find any nice tops to wear.....

So tough question: I know that you cant really "target" an area to lose weight from, and please dont say breast reduction surgery lol (cant afford it), but how would I be able to reduce the size of my breasts???

I have the exact opposite problem. When I lose weight, I always lose the most from my top part (waist and boobs and arms, even though those are always sticks regardless of my weight). I might lose some in my legs, but my butt never budges, and I have wide hips, so I can never find cute pants that don't emphasize my wide pelvis.

However, if you really want to lose weight in your top part, there are certain sports that make you have smaller breasts (you can see it in the athletes themselves) - swimming, lifting weights, basically stuff that you work your pecs with. However where you lose weight is genetic, and you can alter your body composition so much before it doesn't work as you want it.

If you really lose some more weight, your boobs will go too, but at that point you'll have too little weight everywhere else. I think the best course of action is - to lose as much weight as you can without going to an unhealthy BMI, do sports with your arms everyday, wear a minimising bra (I hear they can cut entire cup sizes) and wear the tops that look good with a bigger bust (some look good with a smaller one, while some look good with a bigger one, there's no rule that big chest = ugly tops)

About the boob thing,
ARM EXERCIZES!
If you lose weight on your arms you will lose boob.
A good way to lose weight on yer arms is by lifting weights with dumbells.
Muscles on the top of your arms are joined to the above boob muscles.

Oh really I think this could help me a lot. I have to eat less chips and crisps and candy and eat more fruit and all. And I NEVER take exercise. I'm not fat or something but I just want to lose a few pounds. And I wanna have a better condition So yeah I join! I'm gonna drink lots of waters and I hope I can resist all that delicious stuff like chips. I've tried it before, but I gave up after a week of two, but maybe this thread will help me now. And it's summer, and I live in the middle of nowhere so I think I'm gonna walk a lot, there's no one who can see me here

okay.... i hope i'm not too late to join? (just tell me if am;; ~

anyway, hi, my name is jin. i love eating and food just in general. ^_^ my favorite food is... everything lol. the problem is that i was always chubby, even when i was born i was chubby. which is fine for a baby, but eventually, you're supposed to grow out of it, and that is where i failed... i tried to diet a few times because right now i'm more than twenty pounds overweight. so far, unsuccessful........ -_- *sigh*

physically, i'm a little over 5'1" and i weigh 120 pounds. I used to be a little taller (i'm 17), but i shrunk over the past five years from a 5'2" to 5'1". o_o i'm not sure if this is something i need to be worried about?! lol, but anyway, my target goal is 90 to 95 lbs. i know, this sounds really small, but i'm very short, so actually my doctor said i'm supposed to be under 100 lbs. although i don't mind if i stop losing weight at 100, because like i said, i was always chubby. i just don't want to get heart disease or anything... O_O;;

alright, so here are my goals

long term:
- to walk to school every morning with my sister (we both need to diet)
- to eat less nitrates (stomach cancer risk...)
- to eat less sugar and salt
- to eat less in general lol!

this week:
- i have finals this week, so for exersize, i'll do 40 jumping jacks every morning and 10 sit ups every evening
- eat a large breakfast
- wake up early enough to do all this o_o;;

now here is today's report.... i'm going to start tomorow since its already 7 PM, but just so you can see what a terrible diet and exersize i have right now...

wake up at 9 am
eat wendy's breakfast burrito, diet pepsi, and choco frostie (about half) in the car on the way to church
eat two hot dog sausages with mustard and sweet coffee and watermelon slice for lunch
come home and eat a peice of peach custard pastry with iced starbuck's vanilla frappachino (sp.?)
eat wasabi peas while watching tv

and now i'm done eating, if i eat anymore it will be cold water

tomorrow, i'll go buy skim milk. i did a research report on the hormones in the milk we drink, last week, and it's a long story, but all the ladies here should not the be drinking milk! and it's worse if you eat cheese, butter, yojurt, etc. but since it's something that you probably can't cut completely, i suggest you just make sure not to eat dairy everyday. milk has tons of estrogen and progesterone, and it's full of fat. skim milk is good because it has a lot less fat and hormones, but you still should limit any milk or dairy to three times a week at most because its a risk factor for breast cancer and prostate cancer. not to mention a bunch of other stuff, which i wrote more than 5 pages on... so yeah, be careful on that one! if you're really curious, lol we can talk about it in a nutrition thread.

@ cjh2003: I'm around the same height as you. 90-95 is kind of unreasonable if you consider exercise and how much muscle will replace fat. You'll probably weigh more than your "target" and still be at a healthy range. Plus, 95lbs at 5'1" is considered underweight anyway according to BMI

ah yeah! someone who is my height ^_^ lol

yeah, the bmi said it's underweight.. but i dunno, isn't the bmi only like a guess-timate? so i dunno, a lot of my friends are taller than i am and they weigh like 90 something lbs. so i was always under the impression that bmi is actually slightly over weight. ;;;

BMI fails when it comes to body builders, or people with very unusual body conformations (like super small frame or superbig frame). But it works just fine for normal people.

It's much easier using the cm height/kg weight rule. It says - to be healthy thin, be 10-15 units smaller then your height.

Your height is 154 cm. So to be healthy thin, be between 40-44 kg. That's 90-99 pounds.

You can decide at which weight you look best in. Maybe 90 lbs isn't for you because at that weight your bones stick out, and your face loses the softness of a body that's at a healthy weight. Or maybe you have a supersmall fragile frame, and 90 looks just fine. Just don't get too caught up in the numbers. It's about looking good, not reaching some magical weight, regardless of who you are.

Me, I'm 164 cm and 54 kg. I look best at about 52 kg. 49 kg makes me look insect like. But I have a friend who is 166 and 58 kg (just 8 difference) and she looks thinner then me! But she does a lot of sports, and muscle weighs more then fat, even though it's more compact and small.

i think when it comes to BMI it tells you the 'healthiest' weight range designed for fully developed adults. but as a teen your body is still changing and in the transition between kid nd adulthood. everybody is different and views whats a healthy weight differently. like me, I'm 176cm (about 5,8"ish) and currently weigh 140lbs. Gosh that sounds huge wen compared to 90-100lb but i would look sick if i was that skinny because of my height. to be honest, right now im ok with my weight, im still a UK size 8 (jst have to lookout for long length trousers which are hard to find in size 8 u no)but my target now is to go back to 128lb, because thats when i felt most confident about my body as i was skinny, but toned (i was crazy back then and did like 500sit ups a day, where did i get the energy??). i let myself slip over winter and am now suffering the consequences, but since i joined this thread and started exercising, iv gotten a flat stomach and more toned arms. but my diet still aint good so im just not loosing the lbs.
i was on target with staying off fizzy drinks for nearly two weeks but then the fair circus and exams happened. u have to drink coke at the fair and circus. its like a rule! like you go to the fair u buy candy floss, u go to the circus u buy popcorn, well coke just goes nice with those foods. then i drink coke and dr. pepper a lot near exam times to stay up late and revise. i just had an exam 2day and am reli tempted to snack binge but so far iv only had a pack of crisp. but my snack cupboard seems to be calling me. its like i have a haunted snack cupboard thats all 'eaaatt meeeee' .
but you should know when your comfortable with your body, and you dont need scales to tell you that, just confidence and poise, or a memory of a time when you were confident. all i could suggest is dont aim for the same weight as ur friends or celebrities, cause wat looks good on their frame might not match ur own, aim for wat looks good in the mirror, or that pair of shorts in the back of the walldrobe that u loved wearing last summer but you just cant seem to button up this year so stuffed it outta sight (my problem)
(soz bout the essay)
