Default Some Helpful Acne Fighting Tips

Okay, everyone has acne problems... unless you're sooper lucky and you've never had it. So, here's some things that I've tried and work for me. Hopefully, you'll be able to find some things that will work for you too.

Tip #1: Try using a Blemish Touch Stick.
--The one that I use is from a company called Desert Essence. It's made from Tea Tree oil and all you do is apply it to the affected area consistently. It works if you're faithful and stick to the directions. It doesn't smell all that great, but it's not horrible either. You'll get used to it.
--Where to buy? Go to a health store like Trader Joe's (yes, that's where I found mine) and you'll probably find it for about $5.00 or under.
--Also, don't apply it all over your face... Target small areas at a time.

Tip #2: Buy a good Exfoliating Face Wash.
--Exfoliating every day will help you get rid of dead skin and keep your skin nice and smooth. It'll also get rid of the dirt that clogs up those pores, causing bacteria, and ew, the dreaded pimple.
--Make sure you get the right kind of face wash for your specific skin type. My face is usually oily, so the one that I chose and works wonderfully is Clearasil Ultra: Acne Clearing Scrub. It really did clear up my skin in a few days and I use it in the morning and evening.

Tip #3: Eat well and over-hydrate!
--This, I believe, is probably the most important. Don't eat junk food (as much as we all love them) like: Potato Chips, Ice Cream, Oily foods, etc.
These are very fatty and will cause you to break out often.
--Eat more veggies and fruits for snacks instead. This will not only help your face, but will help your entire body.
--Also! don't forget the water! We are made up mostly of water and it's very important to stay hydrated, especially when it's hot. It will help clear up your skin in no time if you drink A LOT of water. And no, I don't mean one glass a day! So, get those 8 glasses a day in!

Tip #4: If you can afford it... Get Dermabrasions and Chemical Peels once a month.
--I know that we all aren't loaded with money, but check with your insurance company and ask if derms and peels are included.
--These treatments work great and derms are a Godsend! If you're like me and have acne scars, derms will help get rid of those nasty marks!
--Peels sting some, but that depends on what your esthetician uses. Overall, I say it was worth it!

These a few things that I found while experimenting with different products and regiments. They worked on me, but there are many different skin types out there, so keep on looking for the right brand and type and hopefully, you'll stumble across something that works for you!

If you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them to the best of my knowledge!

What you eat DOES NOT effect breakouts.
That's just a myth.

Well, once I started cutting out all the food that I'm not supposed to eat, my skin started clearing up immediately. My skin is actually almost clear now. w00t! So, I guess it's true for me!

But, yeah, I guess I can see how it can be a myth, because it happens to some and doesn't happen for others. *shrugs* That, or I'm just weird! XD

Actually, I don't think it necessarily matters how much water one drinks, either. I have at most about three glasses a day (circa six decilitres), with the occasional exception, (and I eat tons of ice cream!), and my skin is neary completely flawless. Just some slight forehead trouble, but not often (and I can hide that under my bangs, hehe). I never have to wear make-up to cover anything. So I guess the water drinking can be very individual too. But drinking too much can be very bad. A lot of people who does that gets bladder problems and that cannot be funny. I'm not saying everyone does, but it can happen. But I really think you've provided some very helpful tips!

And hehe, I tried Clearasil once. Not the Clearasil Ultra Acne Clearing Scrub, but another one, and I got an allergic reaction o_O Bits of my skin turned red and fell off, and it huurt. I use something called Rozz' Clear Skin, but maybe I should be embarrassed to admit it. But I can really recommend it, it has helped me a lot. I started using it when I was fourteen, and it gave effect very quickly. And my skin has stayed pretty ever since!

Actually what type of food does effect your skin, green leafy vegetables help to repair your skin when you're sleeping i'm not saying that if you don't eat it you'll have bad skin, I'm saying that it will be to your advantage if you do.

hehe, i sounded so perfessional, k maybe not . . .

Yikes! Sounds painful! (about the whole skin irritation thing) Yeah, I think that happened once when I used this one face wash from Neutrogena. My face was all red and it felt sooo painful!! Eeek!

yer food can be a cause of ur acne.. greasy food like mayo (yum!).. also gotta keep ur face clean at all times sweat nd dirt can cover the skin pores nd produce even more acne! try using poducts ( make up, creams) that dont cover ur pores(usually says on back of bottle). and dont cover acne on ur forehead with ur hair!!(bangs..)it actually is the cause of ur acne there! cus the oils of the hair get to ur skin nd make it greasy! If no creams u buy work for u, u can always use homemade natural masks ! easy to make nd dont cost a thing!! + theyre fun to do! XD

I went to a dermotologist. My acne went away because i took doxycycline...then i found out i have a reaction to it. Then my acne came back. Now it starting to fade slowly. I use this site... acne.org. I thought it was helpful. Theres a lot of stuff about myths and what causes acne. Ive only used the clear skin regimen for about 2 days, and my face is less red and the white heads go away much faster.

Ive had a lot of experience with acne and medications...A LOT.
People with sensitive shouldn't use salicilic acid. I have really sensitive skin. It burned my skin and made it peel like crazy. It was really itchy too.

Blemish Touch Stick? Nah, I wouldn't be so sure about that. I saw one at Sephora's (Makeup store) and it was a hard candy brand. I wasn't so sure but I opened it and tried some on. It felt really greasy, so that's not a good idea. I have acne, but either way, your a teenager so you have to expect these sort of things. I'd just probably keep sticking to washing your face a lot and try astingent -sp?- because that stuff really works.

If you think you need to, totally go to your dermatologist but be careful. I recently got new pills for my acne and they really hurt my stomach. It was weird, but I had to stop taking them. xD

The only thing that helped me was the birth control pill... I would never ever try to many creams and stuff.. damages your skin! And it`s expensive as well!

the pills...were they doxycycline? I took those once, they made me feel like vomiting and lightheaded.

I'm also curious about the birth control pill. I know it regulates hormones so that the glands stop producing as much oils. What if the acne is caused by bacterias, will it help?

I use 3 creams twice a day. It makes them smaller, but they don't go away... It's really annoying since I'm like the only one in my class with acne..

I used to use some organic stuff my mum got me, it's called Paulo Senzano, and it's really expensive, but it worked after only a few uses.

i think that food does definitely affect your skin, eating chocolate everyday will start to affect to skin in some way even if its not immediateky and theres plenty of scientific evidence for that.

i think that really depends on the type of chocolate... like dark chocolate is definitely better for you than milk chocolate...
