Least damaging way to straighten hair & best heat protectant?
ARGGG i've been trying to grow out my hair for a year and its still the same length. -__-
everytime it grows 1 or 2cm there are too many split ends from straightening n i hav to chop them off. D:
currently my hair is boob length LOL XD
like approx 20cm from my shoulders, i want it to be at my waist though.
what is the least damaging way to straighten hair?
i live in a really humid area (texas. -_-) so my hair usually goes back to being semi-wavy before school starts. D:
& also what is the best heat protecting product for straightening?
i used the tresemme spray but i don't think it helped much.
i've been considering getting the japanese straight perm or magic straight perm but its a bit pricey and my mum is being asian cheap with me this school year b/c i spent a ton of money already on clothes in canada. D:
THANKQ. C:

I actually like the Tresemme spray, although it seems like a lot of people on here don't.
Try and let your hair air-dry instead of blowdrying it. Don't rub it really roughly with a towel while it's wet, that can cause damage. Don't straighten your hair every day if you can help it.
And even though you're trying to grow your hair, it's good to get it trimmed every once in a while.

Re: Least damaging way to straighten hair & best heat protectant?
If you blow-dry your hair, blow dry it on COLD setting, hot hot. It'll actually make your hair shinier! After you shampoo, dry your hair a bit before putting in conditioner so that your hair can absorb more of the conditioner~ then rinse your hair with cold water to make it stronger.
I have this leave-in conditioner at home I used to use, then stopped until my sister got me back into it. XD When I get home I'll check the name and let you know cause I forgot what it's called, but it's awesome. <3

I use a leave in conditioner by Nexxus, it's a little pricey, but sometimes you have to splurge. Plus it smells amazing!!

Re: Least damaging way to straighten hair & best heat protectant?
hrmms.. do u treatment it 1-2times a week? you should try rinsin it wit cold water after shampoo n conditioning.. try n staighten or blowdry your hair every two days..
lol.. i use tressemme heat defence spray.. it works for me =) r u sure u sprayed enough?
theres also this bed head leave in treatment.. It smells heaps nice and it really moisturises the hair x)
Also.. I did the japanese perm twice before.. It really straightens your hair.. but then it really kills your hair.. probably 4x worser than dying it & plus it only lasted for 1/2year to 1year =\

~shinigami~
LOL! thats prob. because you have nice shiny straight pretty hair so you don't need to do all this crap DX
it says on my hair treament bottle:
"concentrated weekly treatment for soft, lustrous hair.
treats extra dry, over-processed, and color treated hair"
so i guess it does that. : D

Re: Least damaging way to straighten hair & best heat protectant?
I tend to switch between the chi and nexus heat protectants that I have, depending on my mood I guess lol and they seem to work just fine. I'm surprised that no one's said that you should use an ionic straightener, which reduces the damage your hair takes when you straighten- I've been looking into straighteners lately since mai roommate moved out and took her chi ;__; and I'm eying a couple Jilbere de Paris ones at sally's since I've heard they're some of the best ones and are actually a decent price. Although, I believe that most, if not all chis use ionic heat, but tend to be costly zzz and I actually want clothes for school and stuff not just a straightener blarg. o__o

Re: Least damaging way to straighten hair & best heat protectant?
welp. im black and japanese and i ended up with really curly hair. as you can see i can get my hair pretty straight from my avatar picture. i shampoo my hair and leave a deep conditioner in my hair for 30 mins sometimes over night and then i was it out put a leave in conditioner in it and some heat protectant and then put my hair in rollers sit under a hair dryer so the heat is evenly distributed to my hair. and in an hour i have perfect hair. then i just brush the curls out. i hardly get any split ends since i stopped flat ironing my hair

chi is expensive. -__-
like 120bux right? mine is like $90 i think from the salon. i think i'd rather get magic straight perm than spend that much on a straightener. :B

straightening/curling hair too much, dying/bleaching hair, just stuff that dries hair out i guess. :3

Chis are a waste of money imo, sure they're quality, but they're still overpriced. I've actually come across some ionic heat ones that are about half the price(about $58), I don't have money now, but I'm gonna get and try one of them out soon since I've heard really good things about them.
