I might go to China!
I heard my church is going to China to teach english for 2 weeks, and my mom is thinking about letting me go. I would really hope she went with me, because I am only 14 and scared of leaving land as it is. So, my mom is checking how much it is. I really hope I can go!

Not sure what part of China they are going to, but I think it would be so amazing to go any where, even if I dont get in much site seeing or shopping because it"s a church thing!
As for Katz, whats wrong with China? I was told it was a little nasty when my moms friend went, but other then that, it's an amazing place to be! Don"t say stuff like that, it only discourages people...

Yeah, I hope I can go, but seeing as my family is kind of on the poor side it is not a very great chance. Though! My church does help out if people like to go places.

I've personally been to China a few years back. From a very subjective perspective, I think it is the worst country I've ever visited. Your experience might be different, but I personally thought it was complete hell.
- Too hot (it was over 105 degrees every day in the summer, and 90 degrees at night)
- So poluted that a "blue sky" cease to exist
- Extreme poverty. I had too many people begging me for money and food that it made me feel over-priviledged and guilty
- You must bargain with every damn thing you buy, including large retail stores
- Drivers will run you over without hesitation
- Very angry locals. They look at tourists with intense hatred or an opportunity to swindle some money.
- Mosquitos. A lot of them. I woke up to 10 new bites every morning.
The list goes on and on. I just....really....hate....China.

Aw, you hate China 'cause you don't know how to live in China!
I agree though, I'm hate the heat. Positive side? Lose weight faster. x)
Bargaining - hey hey hey. >> You save money. xD I love bargaining.
Drivers WILL RUN YOU OVER. x) I love it though. But, I guess I just love the risk and such.
And extreme poverty is really more towards inner China, if you go to Shanghai, Hong Kong, or Beijing, then it's a different experience. They're getting better though, so that's a good thing. x)
I'm not sure about the pollution.
Anyway, I'm going to Taiwan and Hong Kong this summer. I don't really want to go 'cause I'll miss my friends, but I can't wait for the fact that I'm getting cheap stuff. : ]

I've never been to China myself regardless me being Chinese but from what you said about your family not being so rich, I'll say, wait till you're older and can work for your own plane ticket. Plane tickets are firstly, never cheap, and it doesn't even include food, insurance, and hotel stays while you are there. Even if the church can gather a larger group to save money on flight tickets, it'll only cut prices by so little. Why put your parents through all that pinching and saving just for a plane ticket and other expenses right? You're still young and there'll be plenty of opportunities later on in life, and it'll feel that much more worth it knowing you saved for your own ticket and expenses.

I see that there are bad sides to China, but it is the same for every country. I personaly hate America, and ive lived here ever since I was born. I happen to think many things are aweful with America, and I can only see things getting worse. But anyways...
Most likely if I can not go on this trip will wait a few years... till im around 17 or 18.
As for your comment Katz... I think the only problem I could possiably have is.. "Drivers will run you over without hesitation". I dont like that, I know many people who have died from getting runned over by a car. But everything else I am either use to or dont have a problem with. XD. ^_^

There's bad things about every country really. How many places have you been to in China? You just gotta know where to go. I've been there a few times and the food is delicious, and shopping is awesome =]
If you get to go, I hope you have fun Little Nikku =]

why hate it
i've been there once,, and in 2009 again*
^^ and this year to south korea,, yeah
but I guess,, the industy is like hell, it makes me feel real sad when I think about the poor people who have to work so hard for like 1 euro or dollar a day ?
I love the food and the tea, I like the people.. I know they are kind off wearing a mask, but I wish I was that polite, and just was that calm, and I like to shop in the chinese shops,I <3 the mountains and the temples
every country has something, and I think you've been to the wrong place so what about a flight to a pretty part of the country,
^^

im not one to say "America is the best country in the world" but honestly, especially when comparing America to the majority of the countries in the world, you are extremely lucky to live here. of course, there are manyyy faults, but i dont think you should hate a country that has given you so much. you should be a bit grateful at least.
besides that, i hope you have fun in China if you do decide to go! i would like to visit one of the less industrialized towns because it seems so beautiful from all the books ive read (i love reading about Chinese culture!!) if you have some time, i might suggest some of Amy Tan's books to get you more aquainted with their culture..

China is pretty awesome. Buy a lot of clothes, but not the name brands because they cost more than the brand names in the US... and don't sniff any sketchy people's perfumes that they're selling. They are really nerve poisons, and you're going to faint, and you're going to get kidnapped.

I would love to go to China. I've been to India twice and judging from what some of you girls are saying, India is just like China (^_^) And I love India, so I wouldn't mind it at all, I would probably be used to it. | |
