♥♥♥ FRIENDSHIP BOOK PROJECT ♥♥♥

soo, after some talking and chatting, i decided to open this thread just to see how many people are interested in starting a Friendship Book( FB)

make suggestions, ask question, ANSWER THE POOL ^^comment whatever :]

♥WHAT IS A FB?♥
A friendship book is a small booklet/notebook/sheets of paper that go from one penpal to other, and in the end they return to the starter.
You write your interests, facts, quotes, lyrics, decorate it and then send it to someone else who's on the list . :]

♥DIFFERENT TYPES OF FB's:♥
♪Deco FB:
The cover is often decorated with interesting materials like magazine pictures, rubber stamps, decorative papers, and other embellishments. Each person who signs decorates a full page in the book. Sometimes the book has a theme, for example cats. Then, each person decorates their page following the theme. As with FBs, when these are full, they are sent home to the person for whom the book was made.
♪Lyrix:
Lyrix are much like decos except that each page is decorated using lyrics from a song. Some are more plain with the words simply written in them, others are as artistic as decos with pictures and other ornamental adornments.
Friendship sheets: As the name implies, friendship sheets are nearly the same as friendship books, but they are made on a single sheet of paper or stationery.
♪Quotz:
Quotz are like Lyrix, but instead of song lyrics they contain quotes from movies. These can also be themed, such as Brad Pitt movie quotes. Quotz can be plain text or decorative.
♪Slams:
Slams can be themed or regular. Typically they are usually small like a standard friendship book. Often they have a "sign-in" page where you put your label or name, then each page will often contain a question which you answer (i.e. When was the last time you said "I love you") and the signer would write the appropriate response. At the end there is often a sign-out page as well where it's dated. Slams have many variations and can be "sign if" slams (you sign only if the statement or question applies to you). These are handled in a number of ways, but most of them become more clear when you have it in-hand.

If 10 people are in, do I have to sign 10 books?

Dutch shipping is so slow and expenvice.. if I have to send 10 books I end up paying over 100 euro if they don't fit into the regular mail O__O
(our mailboxes are so small) + it takes over 2 weeks till the next gets it.

no no, there's only one book...
for example i send a book to you, you deco it, write in it and blahblah, then you send it to someone else, then someone else sends it to someone else, and when we fill the book, it goes back to the sender.

but, it is kinda stupid, cuz you don't get to see all the people entries ( only the startes/sender gets to see it) and i agree about the expensive shipping prices ( it's expensive here too) so we should keep it as light as we can...

What are the dimensions of your mailbox laura? We could make the book so that it fits into most people's regular mailboxes.

I have a suggestion for keeping it light...Instead of buying a typical scrapbook and filling that up, we could use construction paper for the pages (and maybe cut poster-board or something similar for the covers)--just hole-punch them and tie them together with yarn or ribbon. And if someone needed to add a page, they would just have to untie the ribbon. It would be pretty colorful too!

Since we would be building the book ourselves, we could cut it small enough to stay light and fit into everyone's usual mailbox, that way those with the same trouble as laura wouldn't have to pay extra, and the shipping costs would be lighter overall.

We could also keep shipping easier by arranging the sending order in a way that everyone sends it to someone who is relatively close to their location. For example, I live in Oklahoma, and let's say another person lives in Texas. I could send it to the person who lives in Texas, and they could send it to the next person who lives in Louisiana, who could send it to someone in Florida and so on...

And if the starter (also the last person who gets it) has access to a scanner, then they could scan the pages and post them up for everyone to see. And we could take turns starting one every few months that way everyone has the opportunity to have one to keep.

After reading the text again, there's a part about friendshipsheets. We can do this too!
And then send a sheet to each person who enterd and they will tie it up to get a FB.
We'll have to set some rules about it (like size) but it would be fun too.

This way, we all have a book, shipping is cheap and fast and everybody can have their own theme.

OH! That's even better! Great idea laura! That would certainly make it a lot easier on everyone. And then everyone has a book too.

those are awesome ideas, i agree with the Sheet idea, and the ribbon..and we can also send it to the nearest location so it would be cheaper and faster ( though we should have some rules about how long someone can keep it before sending it)^^

hmm, not sure i undertsood you =P so, if there're 5 people that entered, i have to send 1 sheet to everyone?

Yeah. That way the shipping isn't high, it's fast and everybody has a book ^__^ The book offcourse is small/light, but the more people sign it, teh heavier it will be! In the end, th last person needs to pay loads of shippingcosts for it.

+ isn't it fun to have a book too? Instead the person who starts off?

It's like, sending the FB in parts to a person.

yeah, thats a good idea ^.^ though in the end, i think the shipping is the same... for example : i have to pay 4 USD for one letter, and if there're 10 letters that i have to send it would cost me 40-ish USD , so thats probably a little bit more expensive than sending a whole FB, which could probably cost us around 10~15 USD...

but the good thing about your idea is that we all get to have a FB *u*

Please let me know what we will do. If it's a book, I won't be a part of it. Pages and shippign them to everybody is awsome!

Shipping is just terrible. No insurance. Sometimes it takes up to 4 weeks. And it's mega expencive. (turns out, only 500 grams and up is 20 euro!)
For pages it's less ^^
