threads with photos
i was looking thro the photography thread and someone raised a very relevant point ...that people could easily steal pictures and claim it to be theirs. i was wondering, is there any possibility that moderators can change the permissions of viewing threads where there's photos in them ..
for example, that only people who have posted 10-20 posts can view photos. i think this will might make people feel more comfortable with posting photographs ...especially since we all know, there's a lotta weirdos on the net lol ....i know it'll certainly make me feel safer knowing that only "true" asiajam members can see personal photos and such like ..just an idea..

Unfortunetly, as a mod, there is no option available to do that. Maybe Bellytuner or Cool can do something.
I actually wouldnt care less if people stole my pictures, haha.

I suppose that is a pretty good idea. I mean i guess i could understand how someone could get very mad if you stole their picture.
As for me I wouldn't care to awful much, i mean mine turn out like crap most of the time anyway so whatever...

If they don't want it to get stolen they could put a watermark on it themselves when they put it up? =/
It's never really bothered me much, though. I never thought any of my stuff was good enough to steal, so I don't bother. D: If someone did steal, though, they should just be ashamed of themselves. It's also stupid. They'll be getting praise for something that's not theirs. I can't possibly imagine anyone feeling good about that, but you never know.. =/

I don't know. It's all about the trusting thing. If you don't trust, you shouldn't post your pictures.
I personally don't care if someone sees my picture. It's not a huge deal to me

I haven't figured out how to do this. But then, I think most of the pics here are hotlinking from other places as well or from photo hosts like photobucket, etc. Also, there are a lot of people lurking around this forum long before they join, and these eventually becomes our part of our growing, warm, asia jammer community. Do we really want to lock them out of viewing your cool pics??
You mentioned that you saw a thread from a photo forum? Perhaps at such a site that concentrates on so much professionally taken photos that they might have a better reason to hack their forum for additional features?
Also, I know that some forums use the 'post minimum' to view pics to get people to post more, not really for the protection of the photos itself.
Here's a tip:
If you have a photo that you're afraid of being stolen, the best thing to do is NOT to post it anywhere on the web. I would like to think that people do not steal stuff on the web, but that's wishful thinking. If you post something, people might steal it.

You can use hosts that will stop people being able to right click on photos or copy and paste them...It's a very good idea...I can't remember what sites do it, i think picture trail have the option to. I never need to myself as i put a water mark on all my photos but yeh...

if you sign up for free, they have an option where you can't hotlink and you can track each pic as well. but that's just for hotlinking...
