Thanks for your feedback, laura and mallory!
Here's my suggestion:
We leave it as it is for NOW because the garage sale section isn't that big yet and it's still manageable with 8 moderators monitoring activity on a daily basis. For me, I try to find the time to check if everything here is in order everyday or alternate days. From my observation, most members follow the rules. Them rule-breakers visit every now and then but really not too often. In order words, it's not a serious problem yet.
Lets ask each other this same question say, 6 months from now. Once there is a need to start imposing stricter rules on sellers, we'll do it!
What say you??
P/S: Laura, I've added you as a moderator for the Garage Sale section. You can now help bring order to this place!

^ yeah I agree with mallory, I think only the members that are here for selling stuff don't like that rule and stay away..
and for every other, well if you're only here to buy/sell stuff you can better go to ebay..

Actually, I don't have any qualms about members who come here just to sell their stuff... just as long as they follow the rules. The more stuff there is, the better:
More stuff to see = More people who would come here/come back here to shop = Good for sellers because they want to get rid of their stuff.
Less stuff to see = Less and less people would return to check out what's for sale = The harder it is for sellers to sell their junk.
It's a chicken and egg issue.
While eBay is an alternative outlet to sell your junk, what we are trying to create here is an active community. Furthermore, this is a new community, so lets keep it easy to participate in.
Hey thanks a lot for all your ideas and feedback. AsiaJam thinks you're the best members! <3

Re: READ BEFORE POSTING: Selling, Buying & Trading Guidelines
I really do want to sell some of my old items that have been collecting dust. However, it says I cannot make a new thread. Do I have to reach a certain posting amount before I am able to create a new thread in the marketplace?

Re: READ BEFORE POSTING: Selling, Buying & Trading Guidelines
I also want to know if I have to post a certain number of posts in order to edit my posts. I really want to edit my garage sale thread (taking couple things out, editing status, and adding a few things in) but there is no button for it. Help?

Re: READ BEFORE POSTING: Selling, Buying & Trading Guidelines
yes, there is a new rule that you must have at least 50 posts to post in the garage sale section (please do not spam just to get the 50 post count) but there are some inconsistencies that we must smooth out. like with you, firedragon, you posted a sale thread before the rule was enforced but now you can't edit it. Once the problem is solved, we will let you know. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Seems anyone with something to sell will make a bunch of nonsense post to get to that mark... Probably would have been better around 20 - 30, at least it's more reasonable.

Re: READ BEFORE POSTING: Selling, Buying & Trading Guidelines
^ true. but even with 3 posts it can be nonsence posts.
like making 5 posts a day in threads as: 'what are you eating right now' 'what are you doing now'
50 posts is what came out underneath the mods and admins. spammers will not make 50 posts and we are able to merge them so they don't have 50 but 2 posts.
20 30 40 50 posts.. basicly, it means the same. spammers and scammers won't join to make a profit in this section. + this section is highly moderated.
this does not mean you can't buy from people who made enough posts.
also, if you are an active member you will have 50 posts within no time ^^
to make it short: we made this rule so spammers/scammers won't join to scam people. and we follow up everything that happens here.

Re: READ BEFORE POSTING: Selling, Buying & Trading Guidelines
The 50 post count still applies in order to re-open a shop?
I lost mine and it was very neatly organized T_T

From now till 30 November 2009, you only need 20 posts to open a shop.

Re: READ BEFORE POSTING: Selling, Buying & Trading Guidelines
I am unsure of where to post this, so I'm sorry if its in the wrong spot ^^; Feel free to correct me.
But for some reason my entire shop has reverted back to how it used to be before my edits. The title has changed back to the old title, as with all the items. And with the new posts that had been made, they aren't there anymore.
Is there some way to change it all back without having to edit it all again?
