READ BEFORE POSTING: Selling, Buying & Trading Guidelines

IMPORTANT:
Effective now till November 30, 2009 : 50 --> 20 post count rule

In an effort to rebuild the AsiaJam Forum, we are going to lower the post count to sell items in this section from 50 posts to 20 posts.

Starting December 1st, the 50 post count rule will take effect again.

Welcome to our very own, Garage Sale!
This section is intended to help members do the following:

1. Sell personal items
Make some extra cash when you need to revamp your wardrobe, recycle gifts you don't need/use, have books/magazines you don't read anymore etc! NO GROUP ORDERS PLEASE. Remember: This section is to SELL YOUR PERSONAL ITEMS ONLY.

2. Buy items from members
One person's trash is another person's treasure so have fun rummaging through other member's sale items and get the best bargains!

3. Trade personal items
Do it the oldschool way - trade! If you have something a seller wants, trade it without dollars and cents getting in the way.

RULES & REGULATIONS APPLY:

1. Personal items only
This section is to help members clear/recycle personal items. If you are selling as a business, moderators have the right to cancel your listings.

What is 'selling as a business'? If you are buying an item solely for resale, then this is selling as a business.

Your items for sale should be products you bought/received and do not use anymore.

2. Product hosting through AsiaJam Forum only
You cannot redirect a member outside this forum to view your products for sale. If you have to redirect a member outside of AsiaJam to view photos, it has to lead them directly to the image and not a selling page. If you do not have a photo host, please use the file attachment feature in this forum.

3. Responsible selling/buying
You are required to practice responsible selling and buying.

Sellers: Describe your item accurately. It is highly recommended to state a selling price so buyers know the price range they are looking at. If prices are negotiable, don't forget to state it. Mention what payment methods you accept. If you made a sale, ensure the products are securely packed and shipped on time. Provide buyers with tracking numbers if possible.

Buyers: Do not make empty deals! If you agree to purchase an item, make sure you pay for it on time. If you are no longer interested in an item for whatever reason, let the seller know so the product can be resold.

Please take note that AsiaJam is not responsible for tradings in this forum. If you have questions about shipment and products a member is selling, direct your questions to them.

4. Bump your thread maximum TWICE only.
As your selling thread falls behind in popularity, it gets less and less visible. This is why sellers 'bump' their thread by making a new 'empty' comment so that the thread gets to the top of the 1st page. But remember, you can only bump your thread TWICE. We take this very seriously. If you bump your thread more than twice, you will be suspended.

5. Post Count Limit
You must have at least a 50 post count (non-spam) to be able to open a sale thread.

Note: Jammers who have a sale thread already but not a 50+ post count; you should be able to edit your thread now.
If you still can't edit, just message your friendly neighborhood mod.

IMPORTANT TIP:

Utilize the Seller & Buyer Feedback section!
Check on the reputation of your potential buyer/seller before you decide to cut a deal with them. If you've completed a transaction, don't forget to leave your feedback & rate your seller/buyer!

Do not expose your personal information (name, e-mail address, shipping address) here! ALWAYS USE the Private Message feature to exchange personal information - this is for your own protection.

You could lock it, so no one can reply anymore.

Just click the link near the top right of the thread, that says, 'Thread Tools', and then select 'Close Thread'. After that, click the button that says, 'Perform Action', and you're done! ^^

were do you have to post your own hand made items you love to sell?
made a lot of necklace, bracelets and other stuff that I like to sell.
made a little bit to much!

Now it seems kind of rediculous to me... how come there can't be any resell / non-personal listings? Can there be a separate forum made for that?

Well, AsiaJam is, afterall, a business. If we allow anyone to sell their products on our platform, then we'd be burying our own business.

This section isn't set up to do other businesses a favor. We set this up for our fellow members to trade/sell items that are collecting dust.

However, you proposed a good idea : maybe in future we could build an AsiaJam 'ebay' where anyone can come in and sell their stuff.

I have a suggestion I'd like to ... Suggest! xD;

I noticed a lot of new members sign up for AsiaJam, post their personal stuff for sale in the Garage Sale section straight away, and then they don't participate in much else! ><;

So, my suggestion is, perhaps members should only be allowed to post threads in the Garage Sale section if they have 100 posts or more? ((To match with the 'no links in signature until 100 posts' rule.))

Does any one else agree? .-.

^ yeah I think that's a good idea, I think it's quite stupid when new members are like that!! so yeah a 100 posts rule seems a good idea

it's so lame that people only join the forum to either make ten post to enter the lucky draw or to post their items.. but don't be active further more.

I've been thinking the same Mallory! The only concern I had in mind is this: If we restrict it to sellers with 100 posts, then it means less items for all members to scrounge in 'Garage Sale'. And I'm scared of: Less stuff = Less people = Less active. What do you guys think? Will enforcing this rule affect activity drastically?

As for me, I think it's okay that less active members (100 posts below) want to sell their personal items here because what they have to offer could benefit Jammers. The only thing that drives me up the wall are newbies SKIPPING the SELLING RULES thread and breaking the rules left and right. Luckily, this doesn't happen _too_ often *yet* so I just manually skim through the threads and filter as needed.

I'll listen to your opinions!

that is so true!
maybe lower it till 50 posts? or like you said.. filtering the threads,
or maybe even the ones who posted the selling threat.

you can easily tell if they are here for the fun, tips and contacts or just for promoting their websites and selling stuff. you can tell by the things inside a post or the amount of posts made. (and where made) right??

like: i sell this and that.
other topic: look at my site too.
here for the forum.. or to sell thing?

making everything 100 posts and up to do more stuff can be really hard for some girls.. for others.. it's just a piece of cake! ^__^

Oh, I don't think it'll affect the activity of AsiaJam at all, whether it be making a 25 post or 50 post or 100 post rule ...!

I think AJ's popularity is because of it's awesome, kind, helpful, and cheerful members, not because of the Garage Sale section. ^.^ Heck, you could probably remove the whole section and only a few people would even notice! XD;

Not saying we should remove it though! Just an example. =P
