I have a small amout of Chinese in me, so I supposed I'm a little asian.

i am half chinese, and mostly people don't notice i think,
but if i do/say something about asian,

like i said i wanted to join a japanese, and a mandarin chinese class,
or when i was cooking udon in the uni kitchen, etc.

people ask, 'are you japanese'?
so i just say no, no one ever called me a wannabe asian before.. i think maybe it's different in the UK. i get the feeling japanese modern culture is much less well known here than in the US for example, like fashion, music, anime etc. so you do not get accused so much of that.. hmm.

i think.. you are less likely to be called wannabe asian if you are,
even if people don't notice your asian-ness at first, if you seem interested in the culture they think, ah she's asian so maybe that's normal ~~
i think it must be harder for completely non-asians.. my friend told me that if she says to people she's interested in japanese culture, people think she's weird/ask why, no one ever said that to me before, i think i remember her saying she's envious of me 'cause of that..
i think there are good and bad things about being half, but i wouldn't change haha xD

Personally, I don't really care what others say. XD; They can call me an asian wannabe, japanese wannabe etc but that's just being ridiculous considering I AM asian (filipino/mexican/arabian/japanese) and my asianess dominates over my whole look and stuff but it doesn't make sense calling someone asian an asian wannabe. >.>;;

I remember my friends would call me a japanese wannabe and I'd be like.."Why would I WANT to be japanese when I already am?" Then, they'd shut up. Idk..I just think it's hilarious. lol! My sister calls me that too and it makes NO SENSE since she's part japanese too!! @.@; rofl.

I have to admit though I enjoy anime, manga, dramas etc and everything stereotypical to Japan BUT..I ALSO love other asian countries. I LOVE Korea, China, Cambodia, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam etc. and I love studying everything about them~ I love learning new things about these countries..NOT just japan. My friends seem to think I'm stuck on just japanese stuff..it's not true and it's really annoying.:/ Which is why most of the time I just ignore these comments and don't respond to them because it's not really worth explaining over and over again. But, sometimes if they do piss me off I end up telling them to just back off and I start my long process of a lecture/speech to them about how much i love all asian countries and their culture. XDDD; Ahaha..and when that speech is over they all just have a "O.O" face. AHA! THAT'S RIGHT! GET OFF MY BACK!! LOL.

Hmm..well there's this one example I have like my one close friend Timmy who is always blabbing about Japan and how he loves it so much etc etc but doesn't know anything about other asian countries it makes me feel like he's really ignorant.:/ I love him but I want him to experience and learn about other countries..not just Japan. Idk..it all just seems so narrow-minded to me and it gets me annoyed rather quickly.. is that weird?! @.@; hahah.

My gawd, I know sooo many people who refer to themselves as ...-chan. I mean, come on. Most of these girls are Norwegian, and it sounds really strange with -chan attached to a Norwegian name... Like, Ragnhild-chan... As if a Japanese would have been named Ragnhild anyway. They're quite annoying. But I'll admit that I've occasionally called fellow Asian freaks -kun or -chan if they're good friends of mine, but that is more like an inside joke, kinda. It's not like we seriously go around and call each other with suffixes. Btw, my sister studies Japanese at university, and their Japanese teachers call them -san, but I guess that's something different...

Personally, I like asian guys because they make me feel clean(for lack of better word) because they're generally not very harry all over their body and they look physically better than other races too. I also think shorter-medium sized men are hotter than super tall guys. And they don't have pointy noses usually. that's all physical, because i think it's weird of someone if they said they like asian guys only because of their mind or personality, because personalities of other races can easily be the same. So why wouldn't it be a physical preference? I've had a crush on a mexican guy once when i was little, and then i suddenly felt absolutely nothing for him. And since then, I have never felt anything romantic toward a guy that was anything but asian. I don't think it's something I chose consciously, until it was already done and i consciously realized it. Or maybe it happened because the only hot guys around me growing up happened to be asian LOL

I agree wholeheartedly with you. Well, it's not exactly the same with me, as I've been in love with Caucasian guys as well, but I think that Asian guys are in general more beautiful than most other races. I don't think it's romanticizing or whatever, just personal preferences, just like you said.

And well, yeah... I haven't been called a wannabe Asian, but I know I was one before... but that was like ten years ago or something! xD My Asian obsessions started out really early, like ever since I knew that there was a continent named Asia... Or, I didn't even know there was a continent named Asia (I thought Asia was a country when I was little ), but I knew how Asians looked like, and I thought they were the prettiest people in the world. When I was a lot younger, like seven or eight years or maybe even younger, I wished I was an Asian because I thought they were so much more gorgeous than Caucasians. My natural hair colour is a very light blond, and it was even lighter when I was a kid, and I asked my mum if I could dye it black to look more Asian when I was 10 years old xD Of course she wouldn't let me... But I've grown more comfortable with the way I look now. I don't want to be Asian anymore, but I tend to think of Asians as more beautiful than other races. But as I said earlier, I think it's only a matter of personal preferences.

I've been mistaken for being Chinese before, several times actually. But I'm not Asian at all. I have an interest in some things Asian, so sometimes if I watch anime or show interest in anything remotely Asian-related my brother will flip out and be all "YOU'RE NOT ASIAN SO WHY ARE YOU DOING THISSS?!" It's pretty embarrassing.

I actually don't think I've been called an Asian wannabe before, though. I try and suppress my interests while out in public, and at home everyone doesn't really care too much (except my brother.)

I've also been called white washed. Which I really don't understand. I mean being born/brought up in Canada makes me white washed? if so, sure. but I am a proud asian. I wouldn't have it any other way. I really prefer being multi-cultured; then being just asian or just canadian.

I have been told that I look Chinese or Filipino due to my eyes (or what my friends say, I look like a little "tanned Asian girl" XD). As a child I think I looked a lot more Asian than I am now... but I am not Asian, though many people think I look like one =o= all because someone looks Asian doesn't mean they are one...

I'm black and part Korean on my dad's side. You can't really tell I'm part Korean..Except for this one Korean family who lives next to me who claim they can see it in my eyes? Anyways..I Love Asian fashion,music,clothes,popculture,media,magazines etc.. But I have never changed myself to make myself "More Asian" So I don't concider myself an Asian wannabe even though some might.
