unique looking. do you mean like ugly? but in a nice way? xD lmao
like some look absolutely gorgeous and then some just look.... bleck.
whyyyyyyyy on earth would you want to be hapa? omg i like it. but one thing i hate is that it's so hard to fit in with other kids and it's hard to identify yourself. i cant group with the blacks, spanish, asians, japanese[asians but specific], whites or anyone. it can only be with other hapas. luckily there's a lot of hapas here as well but other than that, no. theres not a lot of us and we get picked on by people so yeah. lol that's my view on being hapa. lmao

After taking countless social studies courses, I dont really believe in "mixed races" anymore...well, maybe the correct term is "mixed cultured."
Ahh but I wouldn't know. As far as I know, my entire family was and always been Chinese.

It's a long story. Let me tell to summarize my years of learning about culture into a few itty-bitty paragraphs. It's gonna be boring though.
For one, there is no such thing as race. Nor is there such thing as racism. "Race" was a term created by European expansionalism when they came to the Americas in order to establish a system of dominance. Because the european immigrants wanted more privedges and more benefits, they started labeling people by their physical appearances. Skin color, hair texture, and eye shape for example, are markers of who-gets-what. Note how they enslaved colored people for free labor during early American history. Race seems pretty beneficial to them, seeing that they are able to get free labor off this concept.
But the truth is, there ARE no sub-species in humans. Genetically, we are more similar to one another than any other animal in the planet. Even flies are much, much more diverse than we are. The primary thing that makes us slightly different looking from the next person is the geographic location. Persons living closer to the equator where it is hotter are generally darker skinned that those further from the sun, like Europeans.
Believe it or not, humans all come from one ancestor, that is, Africa. From there on out, people migrate and relocate themselves to different parts of the world, where natural selection kicks in.
People always try to divide or group people into "races" because it helps reinforce self-identity. But biology isn't really accounted for this, it's all about social constructions.

not boring at all! very interesting! race could still exist just as a term though? even if it isnt biologically correct perhaps...
thank you for explaining! it really makes me think. although, i get why skin and hair color differs, but i never understood the eye shape thing? sorry for asking another question > >

Not even anthropologists can answer that question. No one really knows why we have differences in shape or facial features, why one person's nose is longer than the next, but what's true is that the mitochrondria in our dna accounts for them. It might just be slight mutations in the gene pool, and whatever that mutation is was passed down to children....and onto homogenous populations.

we speak english and some korean. :/
eh, i like that i'm a fusion of two races. i hate being called white asian or anything like that. I'M EUR-FUKKIN-ASIAN. not half korean, not half white, neither is possible and BLEH!
i'm attracted to eurasians and asians. all of my boyfriends have been eurasians so far and my current boyfriend is eurasian too.
i lean more towards asiatic stuff overall, but i'm still proud to be eurasian, haha.

I love being a hapa. (I'm half Filipina and half white) I live in a place where almost everyone is white and so I enjoy the fact that I kinda stand out a little. 8) Even though I know that when I leave for college, there's totally going to be millions of girls who look like me. But that's alright! I usually think other hapa girls are super pretty, but people who aren't hapas (or asian) never guess I'm hapa... so I dunno if I really look it? The most common guess I get is Colombian... although I think they're very pretty as well, so I'm alright with that.
I think I'm usually attracted to hapa, latino, and white boys physically (although I don't see boys of non-white races often..)
Also, about the race not existing thing. I thought that was very interesting! I wish people would all realize we're all humans and the same, biologically.
