I've once had someone call out to my bf, asking for the time by saying, "Hey Jackie Chan! Oi, Bruce Lee! Hey Jet Li!" Really got on my nerves. He isn't even Chinese, he's half Vietnamese, half Aussie. We just tried to ignore him, but he kept on pestering us, it was horrible.
In a 'reverse-racism' experience I had, I was at the train station, and this old Asian guy, who could barely speak English, spoke to me in Chinese (... I think). I tried to explain to him that I don't understand a single bit of Chinese, and that I can only speak English, but he refused to listen. I was in a really tight spot. Thankfully, a nearby Asian guy came to my rescue, and talked to the guy in Chinese for me. Phew, took a load off my shoulders!
In high school I had some so called, "friends" who would always make racist jokes. It was really bad, since I was the only Asian in the group. Everyone else was caucasian. They made terrible "jokes" about how Asians are all the same, in the way the speak, look, act and just are. I was so insulted. This didn't happen once, this happened almost every week. I felt so insulted! These people were meant to be my friends, and yet they were making jokes about my background! They use to single me out all the time, mostly because I was Asian. They'd make comments about how "quirky" my Asian family is, and even making comments like, "oh, you Asians are so weird. You eat chicken bones?"
One of the most insulting comments I've had said to me was, "Well at least I'm not Chinese!" That was shocking. This was the little brother of one of my friends. Agh, how can you say that? It's just not right!
I've also had the slanty eye, yellow skin, dog eating, bad teeth, bad eye sight remarks which have sent me up the wall. And the whole, "Asians aren't pretty."
Why do people have to be so annoying!?

yep! Koreans eat dogs in the summer time, though it's a delicacy. though we just don't eat random dogs... the dogs are bred for eating.

once my family and i went to las vegas, and there was a black guy behind us, and he pushed through my family and said "excuse me, chinese" (or so my mom said, i wasn't paying attention). i thought it was stupid, because of all people, shouldn't black people be more appreciative of ethnicity? not to be sorta racist myself, but i what would've happened if i said "here, black." back? geez.
i understand that some asian people eat dog.
but to me, it's offensive that people ask, because to me, it's totally inhuman to breed something just for the sake of eating it. unless it's a veggie xD

Ugh minorities should be sticking together.
Yeah Asian people do eat dog, but that's mainly with really poor people, who live in really rural areas. I would rather eat dog then starve to death, wouldn't you? I find it offensive because it's stereotypical. People wouldn't lile it if I said whites were all ignorant racist assholes who have a membership to the KKK or that black people all live in ghettos and stuff like that.

Ummm..... no... not totally true. Korea + Dog = Delicacy. Poorer people can't really afford it.

Hmm... Actually, I haven't had people discriminate towards me. I've had the occasional konichiwa (I'm not japanese), but that rarely happens, and when it does, it's most likely from somene with one of the lowest GPAs in the school.
My friends sometimes do the "ching chong ching" thing, but they don't mean any harm...
If someone ever does that ching chong chang thing in a negative way, just remember that you have better English than whoever it was. Orrrrr insult them in your asian language haha

If I were asian and I got the dog eating comment (in a negative way) I'd just be like "do you eat peacocks?" or some other random european food.

Yeah...I've gotten some of those comments too...But has anyone ever gotten like racist remarks or like prejudices from other asian races? I'm mixed and it seems to be so common...At least to me it is.

should a french person be offended if somebody asks them if they eat frogs and snails? it's just a question. somebody can ask me something like if i have a job or if i like the color blue and i don't and tehy would be "assuming i do something when i don't".

yeah, im mixed too. my grandmother is half white but she dyes her hair blonde (she's old i guess it's just easier than trying to cover up gray with black or brown) so really she looks totally white and other filipino people tend to be rude to her & go absolutely crazy when they hear her speak tagalog "zomg that white lady is spepakin t3h filipino!!11"
but whatever i really cant stand my grandma anyway

That sucks! I have a friend who is Asian and her friends just don't like her. We are really good friends online, and I wish I could help her more. People make fun of her the same way!

I understand what you guys all mean. I've had a whole bunch of those racist comments thrown at school when I was little. They hurt, felt ashamed of myself, but I grew up and no one does it anymore. You'll hear the occasional comment, but whatever it doesn't bother me anymore.

Yeah... except that its a dog. I guess it has to do with how we see dogs in this country as being man's best friend. So when Americans hear that people eat them its a shock to them...andwhen they ask someone Do you eat dogs? (and it depends how they ask it and in what tone) They don't mean it in a nice way because most usually they already have a wrong perception of it in their minds that's what I've observed anyway.

I once knew an American who said 'I am not a racist but I hate em all'.
Haha... what a dumba*s racist!
Mostly, when I was studying in the USA, people would, from how I speak English assume that I am stupid or dumb.
