I'm a blonde and I often get to hear (strangely enough, never from people with black hair, but brunettes and redheads) that blondes are stupid, blondes are bimboes, and blondes have an IQ like a doorhandle. That's so immature and just plain mean. I don't understand it. But it's like racism to me, that people assume that I don't know anything because of the way I look.

I get a lot of racism from Mexican and Asian people. I'm half Japanese and half white. I don't look anything like the ideal Japanese or half-Asian and so people are always kinda.. Rudely shocked when I tell them. My ex's mom hated me because I was Buddhist, not Christian, that I wasn't Mexican, and that I couldn't speak Spanish. My real father's side of the family dislikes me because I "don't look like them". D: They usually call me white or milky to be mean and I had one aunt flat out tell me she hates me because I "look" like a dirty American. D:
At school, people who know me will try to make a joke by saying, "oh! I learned Japanese today what does, 'ching choon chung ka chang' mean!?" They're dead serious too and it annoys me. They'll make words that they think is the right ideal way to speak. My close friends criticize me too because I don't look "Asian enough" to them. >_<

*hugs* Daijoubu? Gomen Nasai. I hope you feel better. You just gotta ignore things like that. Those who are stereotypical greatly outnumber those who are open-minded (that's us! lol) so they will always have more power than us.
BTW, where the f*ck did ching choon chung ka chang come from? That sounds like no asian language I've ever heard of! And I've heard many! God I hate ignorant people!!!

I have a funny story about that.
Asian kids in my school say I look Japanese, because of my facial features and my clothes.
A bunch of exchange students came from Japan for a week.
We had a party for them when they came and after they went to the library to get their stuff. I happen to walk behind them talking with my friend.
Some freshmen comes up to me and he immediately assumes I'm one of the exchange students. He starts saying Konichiwa and I just stood there.
I said, "You know I can speak English."
"Oh sorry...."
"You know I go to this school..."
"Oh snap..." *runs off*
Just because I look and dress Japanese doesn't mean I am!!! (My mom says it's a compliment though)
By the way, I'm Korean...

Why would you want to be half? Especially half African half Asian? That poses a lot of problems because Asians seem to be generally more accepting of White than Asian over in Asia.
And plus... nothing wrong with trying to learn Japanese... if people think it's weird for you to learn Japanese, then how come people don't think it's weird for Europeans to learn Japanese?

I don't know where they get the whole "chang" language from but it's definately not anything I've heard either. I just try to ignore it but one day I might punch someone in the face. D:

Some people were making fun of Chinese people i my class, I can't remeber what they were saying. I would have said something, but I know my teacher would. He doesn't stand for stuff like that. He heard them and started yelling and informed them that they were indeed being racist by saying what they were saying (why can't I remember?). It was awesome cause one of the girls he was yelling at was someone I HATE. Yeah, rad, I know.

i hope i dont sound racist by saying this, but chinese does kind of sound like err ching chang to me when its spoken fast (i know thats not what it is)... i definitely dont go around saying that to asian people just to annoy them, make fun of their heritage, or stereotype them though

I was thinking, maybe ching chang chong comes from some of the last names? I don't know, it's stupid, but like, some of the names are like, Robbie Chang, so people somehow think the language is like "Ching Chang chong" as well? Gah, it's the only thing I could come up with. my idea is stupid............

racism is jus crazy
though a lot (possibly all) comes from ignorance, so quite a lot of people, once you tell them otherwise, are kinda apologetic about it. on the other hand there are total n00bs who just want to stay ignorant and believe that anyone different from them is scary. this is fear stemming from ignorance, leading to hatred
and is even stupider
if any of you know about some south african history and about aprtheid, then youll know how damaging racism can be. comig from there, just at the time when things were changing, i can surely say that it makes no sense. living here, my boyfriend (he is mixed race, from guyana) gets a lotta racist crap. and i get some from going out with him. again its just ignorance. like peoploe making fun of you cos of the way you dress.
silly
just silly and worthy of pity.

this may be true (about the stereotyping\) but come on, everyone stereotypes. there are just different kinds. an 'us and them' approach possibly aint the best way forward. perhaps an attempt to educate those around you instead?

I get all the "blondes are dumb/stupid/slaggy" thing. Most people think because of my hair colour of all things that I'm not intellectual or that I'm promiscuous.
Also because I was born in the North of England and live in the South my so called friends in high-school (this is Yeeeeears ago now) used to ask "why can you not talk properly?" and say nasty things. All because they pronounce their vowels differently! They also used to ask if I was a thief because that's what they thought all Northerners were like. Suffice to say I wasn't friends with them for much longer.
It's strange what people say to you and claim not to be racist. My friends that used to "joke" I couldn't talk properly also used to have "let's hate Nat day" which I thought was immature and so got a new group of friends and turned out to be popular so years later these people were asking to be my mate and hang-out with me. It's funny how life is sometimes. I'm still friends with my new group now and have been for 6 years YAY!

Im chinese and I used to live in Colorado. It's like ALL whites over there. I was like one of the few asians.
I was always asked
-Whats my name in Chinese?
-Can you teach me karate?
-Are you related to Jacky Chan? What about Jet Li?
-Can you see with those eyes? -________________-'''''''''
-Do you eat dog?
-Can you teach me to use chopsticks?
It was so lame! Dude, I'm a freakin American, just like them! Once we had to do a project on China, and my friends all came up to me and started asking me stuff. -_-' And once my teacher asked my stepmom about that stuff too! Dude, shes a freakin adult. Shouldnt she know better?!
Now I live in California with a bigger asian population. Once when I walked home, two black girls saw me and one said, "Are you panda?" I was like.. WTF?! And shes like, you look like Panda. So I just ignored her. That pissed me off. I don't go around calling every black person a panther. -__-
As for that dog eating thing, there's nothing wrong with that. Im sure theres a reason for that. I mean, maybe when there was a famine or something, that was the last resort and the custom just kinda stuck. Plus, its not really "weird." Its just most people arent used to that idea. Every country has something "weird" that people wouldnt dare to eat. And im sure if there was like a plate of dog meat in front of someone, they wouldnt even know it. -__-' So thats just plain stupid.

Maybe she thought you were a girl whose nickname was Panda....*benefit of the doubt*
If someone called me Panther, I'd punch 'em.... >_<

It came from a very racist joke.....People say that chinese people name their children by dropping like a fork or something and listen to the "Ching chong" noises that are made and that is how they name their child.
I hope that doesn't affend anyone....it is an awful joke but that is what people told me.
