^ i think katherine means pure?
just looked it up:
Quote:
KATHERINE
Gender: Feminine
Usage: English
Pronounced: KATH-u-rin, KATH-rin [key]
From the Greek name Αικατερινη (Aikaterine). The etymology is debated: it could derive from the earlier Greek name ‘Εκατερινη (Hekaterine), which came from ‘εκατερος (hekateros) "each of the two"; it could derive from the name of the goddess HECATE; it could be related to Greek αικια (aikia) "torture"; or it could be from a Coptic name meaning "my consecration of your name". The Romans associated it with Greek καθαρος (katharos) "pure" and changed their spelling from Katerina to Katharina to reflect this.
The name belonged to a 4th-century saint and martyr from Alexandria who was tortured on the famous Catherine wheel. Another saint by this name was Catherine of Siena, a 14th-century mystic. This name was also borne by two empresses of Russia, including Catherine the Great, and by three of Henry VIII's wives.

My full name is 'Jasmin' and all I know is that it is a flower...but my mum spelt it without the 'e'...so maybe that renders it meaningless ^_^"

We're pretty big movie people in my family, so I actually asked my mom about my name and I'm pretty sure I was either named after Tracy Turnblad (The original Hairspray movie) or Tracy Lords from The Philidelphia Story. (Yay Katherine Hepburn!!)
Tracy-
*English surname, or Irish surname meaning .....'descendent of the fierce one'
*This name has Irish and Gaelic origins i.e. it has been derived from Ireland and Scotland. The meaning of this name is translated as “warlike” or “courageous”.
o_0 um...oddly enough, it would explain a lot.
Which brings up a question from me: Does anyone sort of live up to their name?

Mine means "plain" [oh how depressing].
Sometimes I wish parents would look into the name meanings before randomly naming their child =P.

WOAH!!! You might've been named after Tracy Turnblad?!?! THAT IS SO SUPER COOL :O :O :O Me = TOTALLY JEALOUS. LOL i like LOVE Hairspray haha
Anywho~~
I was kinda bored so yeah..i looked up my whole name:
(First name) Amy: Its supposedly derived from Old French meaning "beloved"
(Middle Name) Sharon: From the Old Testament meaning "plain" in Hebrew, referring to a fertile plain close to ISrael (LOL) its also the name of a flowering shrub, the rose of Sharon...
(Last Name) Allan: The meaning, is not apparently known for certain but it could mean either "little rock" or handsome" in Breton. Haha~~

Megan Kathleen Udell
I'm called Megan after the baby in the movie "Mr. Mom" (Dad just thought it was a nice name) and Kathleen 'cos it's my mum's cousin's middle name.
My first name is from the Greek word for pearl. My middle name either means "each of the two" or "my consecration of your name" (Greek & Coptic, respectively). Or it could mean "pure" as diadori said. My last name means "valley of the yew trees" which, traditionally in England, is a cemetery or graveyard. Haha. Hopefully I won't live up to my last name anytime soon...

Well, my name is Casi which my grandfather sort of contorted from the name "Casey." The name is a derivative of "Cassandra" which means "to shine."
"Casi" also means "almost" in the Spanish language. I always thought that was extremely fitting....I'm ALMOST lots of things, hehehe.
