Especially if someone comes from a homogeneous society, many people will seem like a foreigner to them.

Yes I know this. I am Japanese. I know my country is homogeneous. It doesn't mean we are sheltered, there are still people from other countries that live there too. But I don't like the connotation it has behind it. That is our way of a slur I think..we don't really have terrible names for a specific race because we think of it fom our side to the next...does that make sense? If I know the person ia american. I will call them american. If they were from france, i call them french. Don't other people do the same? I'm wondiner if other people from other countries do the same, y'know?
Ercho>> I'm other words, I'm not trying to be mean, but I thought it should be known or at least something to think about. If you don't mind then it is okay, it is just I personally don't care for it.. Does that make sense?

Yeah they do say that in the media, right? I guess to be "correct". that's why I dont like the word gaijin.
However, I don't think if they meet someone out of the country they are going to be like "Hey! Its the new immigrant alien in town!! xD"
But hey, I am an immigrant alien here...
I'm non american living here so..I want to get duel citizenship, but in Japan they don't like that. It's not impossible though. I just need to "trick" Japan X]]]

The term is "illegal aliens", I've never heard it as just "aliens" before. It's a term used for people who live and work in America illegally. I always thought it was weird too, but it isnt used for foreigners or anything, just people who are here illegally.

Alien just means foreign or different. The use of "alien" to mean someone who is from another planet makes sense, according to this definition, but it came after it was applied to people from other countries. It's not all that shocking or offensive, considering it's original meaning.

How come nigger is the worst word of all? People use 'chink', 'jap', 'jew', 'paki', 'wop', etcetera, and no one freaks out as much.
I don't understand why 'the N word' is so special.
They're all just words, and flinching when someone says one of those words only makes them more powerful.
I don't use them as insults, ((I WILL say/type the word to discuss it, however, as I'm doing right now ... Why should I be afraid?)) but if other people do, I remain completely calm and straight faced. Why let mere words have power over you? And why THAT word in paticular? ((Yesyes, I know the history of it.)) I just don't understand why that single word is considered so awful.
And let me guess, the kid who said nigger, and got suspended, was white? Because I'm pretty much betting a million bucks he wasn't black.
We all need to get over ourselves and stop letting little words be built up into such awful things.

well, i dont know the history behind ANY racial slur. I find them all stupid and annoying....and I pretty much share your opinion in some of the things you said.
But just to comment on a few things:
1) i don't think the word Nigger is worse than the others like chink, jap (i didn't even kno dat was a bad word until now...i always thought it was just to shorten the word japanese.), however, I think that black people voice out their opinions more than other races when it comes to racial issues. I'm pretty sure that if other races start making a fuss over the racial slurs associated with them, those words would become just as terrible as the "n" word.
2) "And let me guess, the kid who said nigger, and got suspended, was white? Because I'm pretty much betting a million bucks he wasn't black."
Black people do NOT say the word "nigger"...they say "nigga"
I went to a diverse high school...and there were white, black, asian, hispanic students saying the word "nigga" all the time while talking to each other. But when the 'a' is omitted and replaced by 'er' then it becomes a problem. It doesn't matter if a black person says it to another black, or a white person says it to a black person.
that's all i can type for now. my fingers hurt lolz.
