Skanking IS too dancing!! (:
Ska was never popular down here, but I love oi! and ska, so all I do at shows is skank in the circles. There are few (if any) other girls that do at our local shows... It makes me sad.

But other than that, I'm from India, so we have a lot of dances. Kind of combined into one, there's Bharat Natyam (which literally just means Dance of India).
Um, and I'm from Texas, so I can square dance, hahahahahha. (:
But yeah, other than that, I'm not a big dancer myself.

I dance hip hop decently. I'm not the best though. I've recently gotten into learning BoA's dance routines. That girl can move!

A lot of people skank here, I guess... I really don't know, I've never been to a show.
We have a multi-cultural fashion show, though, where all the cultures have their own showcase and do a dance. I loved the Vietamese (sp?) Valentine's Day dance or... some dance that had to do with love. It was really cool.
Oh, and Korean fan dances are fun to watch.
There was also this chinese fan dance we saw, but I don't remember if there was a specific name to it. And there were Jewish dancers, and Greek, and some Russian or something dance. I completely forget, it was so long ago.

Cossack!!
Russian folk dance you're all familiar with. Cross those arms and kick those knees up!! Well, there's more to it than that...

Instruments: garmoshka, balalaika, gusli are often used (I own a balalaika!!)
Heee.

In Sweden we don't have many traditional dances... I think... But we're pretty good at ballroom dancing and such. I've been dancing for 6 years and 6 lessons I never wanna stop. I love it ^^ I dance modern disco (not 70s disco ) and a combination of jazz and show dance.

Skanking
I love skanking. My friend and I were skanking to Spanish Music last night at a quinceñera. My friend whos party it was was dancing spanishy with her family and then you see my friend and I skanking. Besides my friend and who she was dancing with, my other friend and I were the only other ones on the dance floor. People looked at us like we were crazzy

I have been to a Heritage festival with a Phillipine friend of mine and I remember for several months she would go to this studio with her family and another Phillipine family and reherse the dance. Lol, even though I am not Phillipine they let me practice with them. At the Heritage Festival they all got in their outfits and preformed on stage. It was really awesome.
Also I am Mexican/German...but our family isn't very traditional so no dancing for us. lol
I remember being in grade school and learning how to Square Dance...god I hated that.

What is skanking?
I can't actually dance the way they do in my mom's country, but it's pretty simple- mostly turning your wrists and hands around, stuff like that.
