yep yep thanks for the link(s)!!
if i tried making a shirt it would probably
turn out looking like pants, or something
that has yet to be invented...
i'm terribly horrible with sewing things.

I've been wanting to cosplay for about two years now, but I have no idea how to sew or anything and I don't know the first way to go about doing it.
If I did know how to sew, I'd want to be Haruka from Kimi ga Nozomu Eien, Kagome from Inuyasha, and Sailor Mercury from Sailor Moon. I'd also like to cosplay as a random schoolgirl.

Oh! Cosplaying seems very exciting, but I'd have to end up buying a costume... I've always wanted to cosplay as Sophitia from Soul Calibur, though~~ :'D
This site has pictures of gorgeous costumes.... Too bad they rarely make them. =/

( there's a Sophitia costume! hehe. )

I've always wanted to cosplay, and I think I'm going to Sakura-Con in April, so I'll have my chance! I want to go as Miyu from GALS!

You know, I'd rather buy, too. That way I can save myself the agony of trying to sew and find fabric. And the costume would probably look much better made by someone with experience than by my untrained hands. Isn't buying considered a cop-out to hardcore anime fans? Oh well, if it is. I'm a hardcore anime fan myself and I see nothing wrong with buying a costume. Okay, I'll stop rambling now, lol.

I can't post pictures, I have no camera. I'm getting one soon though, so I'll take a picture of me in it and post it here.

It's not hardcore anime fans that consider it a cop-out. It's hardcore cosplayers. The only exceptions are because of like... if you work a lot and stuff and don't have time. Most cosplayers don't know how to sew or anything when they start. They learn BECAUSE they want to start (it's a lot cheaper than buying in the long run, it's just more time-consuming). My first two or three costumes were okay (recognizable, but poor seams, sizes a bit off - usual beginner stuff). After you get a bit of practice, though, you get pretty good at it. And if you need any help, you can try starting with a pattern from McCalls or something that is similar to your costume's shape. Work off of it from there.
BTW, McCalls sells Pokemon costume patterns. (;

Whee. I've only been cosplaying for one year. But it's funnnn. Except when you're wearing something bulky in summer. NO MORE INUYASHA AT OTAKON! x.x'
The last costume I wore was Gackt from his Vanilla PV. *luffs at the wig*
I make all my accessories and tops. And then I alter pants and such. I just can't do pants without them going all asplodey... x.x' I can do skirts though ^^'.
I've got a whole gallery thing going on Cosplay.com. <3

2iogf8-9pseht45!!! AnimeNEXT is my favourite anime con to go to. It's a lot of fun, and not too crowded, not too desolate. It's a perfectly sized con, I think. This'll be my fourth AnimeNEXT. :3
I cosplay too much. Sometimes I'll wear it in public for regular clothing usage and my friends pretend not to know me. It's fabulous, though. Taking on a new persona is exciting.
