unnamed recent trends
I work at a university and I've noticed...guy purses. They're not really guy purses, but mini backpacks (think the size of the ones on the movie Clueless) that I know aren't carrying books! I've seen more than a handful of guys wearing them. Is this the beginning of something new?
Something else I've noticed (not just at a the u), is a single, random hair band worn as a bracelet. I remember wearing scrunchies as bracelets when I was a child, but this is just a plain band, seen in a variety of colors. Now, I've done this for the past few years for function...but maybe this is one of those fashion+function things coming together again.
Has anyone else noticed these things or something similar?

Yeah, manpurses! xD
They're becoming pretty acceptable, but.. Really, what does a guy need one for? :? I mean, sure, maybe a wallet and cellphone, etc...
But I can't think of anything else so essential for guys that you need a bag for it. o.O
hmm.. yeah, i've seen those hairbands too.
i think some colors stand for certain groups?
i know they're not armstrong bands, but... I remember reading a caption in a magazine pointing out one of those hairbands on a celeb's wrist, accusing them of being pro-ana. -shrug-
Otherwise, most of the time it probably is just -- as you said -- a fashion+function thing.

Hm.....I wanna see a picture of this stuff. I have never seen it yet. Although it doesn't strike me that this stuff will eventually happen.

I haven't seen any of those trends here. The trend here is gangster. Haha. Except some use the hairbands as bracelets. I do too sometimes, it's conveinient.
I guess guys can use their murses for carrying beer? I don't know...

Haha, it's funny you mentioned the man purse. My math teacher just brought up how he has a man purse now. I haven't seen anyone else with one yet, but I think it'd be odd if it started. Just because I can't picture a bunch of guys with purses.
I've been wearing hair ties on my wrist forever. I don't do it for fashion though... it's just because I ALWAYS get into some situation where I need my hair up all of a sudden. A lot of girls I know do it too.. for the same reason, I always thought. Mine are all black too... I'm not a colorful hair tie person.

I don't think this is really a widespread trend, it's probably just at my school, but something some friends and I were noticing the other day really cracks me up.
There are a lot of generic "gangsta" type kids at my school who look all tough and thuggish, but for some reason this year a lot of them are wearing... cutesy little kid backpacks. Like, I saw one dude with a little Spongebob backpack and I saw another guy with like... a pink frilly backpack with a Beanie Baby in it.
I have no idea what's up with this, but it makes me giggle. I'm all curious about the reasoning behind it.

Ohmigawsh, that is a-okay because Dr. Seuss is my HERO! I have a cutesy green Dr. Seuss shirt that <3 so much. I'm also doing a Dr. Seuss inspired painting that has a woman who's hair is styled to look like a lanky bird or something...
Anyway.
Yeah.
Dr. Seuss is cool.
Also, yeah, interesting to see that the kid's backpack trend isn't just around here. Hah!
