I wish people would stop talking about the world ending, it scares the crap out of me... I don't care in what form, because we all know (OR AT LEAST SHOULD KNOW) that global warming is eventually going to take a turn for the worst on humans... think of the polar bears!! =(

It's too bad that technology comes before the planet itself.

why would you wanna know when the earth is going to explode??
why would you make a big fuzz over things like htat?

like katz said... look at the toruble around you allready. this planet will die... but not because of a big bang.. but because of people killing it.

at the same time.. now it went good. next year they are going to slit them even faster. again.. reasons for people to say the earth is going to say BOEM!

The planet won't die. We might, as a species. But Earth itself has been here for billions of years before us, and will be here for billions of years after us.

Not only that, even nature will survive. The planet has suffered much worse catastrophies then humans :P. Before the cambrian explosion, almost 99% of life on the planet was wiped out. This wasn't a tragedy, it gave way to the rise of mammals, which in time produced us. There was such a huge surge in the diversity of life, that's why they call it an explosion.

If we ever self destruct, and take a chunk of nature with us, the planet will be back on track in no time. And who knows, maybe a more stable species will evolve. Maybe not, and it will be just a green paradise with no one to enjoy looking at it. Awell.

yeah that's what i think too. and for global warming, i think that it's a natural process and humans have just been speeding it up a little bit. but global climate changes all the time throughout the earth's life, there have been times when it was way toooo hot and then there's the ice age, but i think global warming is inevitable no matter what humans do. it goes through cycles but like you said, it's going to be perfectly fine in the end, not exactly for us though, but the earth yeah

ahh lol well i saw this documentary.. or maybe it was a tv show on the science channel? it showed these guys that were looking for this almost impossible particle to find because it passes through everything and that they think its going through the earth at all times but that its really hard to catch one. they didn't catch one in the show but they said they'd keep looking because they knew it was there. im just guessing that's the same particle.. not sure though x.x

Except that the Earth's temperatures overall always go up and down, that's just the way they are. Frankly, I don't believe in any of the global warming bs.
It might get hotter, but it'll get cooler eventually. Just like gas prices. Also, when you say that we're killing the planet.. Well, we aren't. The planet's doing just fine. It's us that could get killed. Why don't you just say 'Save Us' instead of 'Save The Planet!'?

I didn't hear about that. But I wouldn't have freaked out anyway. I'm sooo used to people saying that the world is going to end that it doesn't freak me out any longer.

My sister heard about it... and I'm not finding out about this until now... Hmm.. I wonder what other info she is holding out on me.

Uh...about the everyone lets freak out about global warming thing is something you don't need to worry about either. It's nice not the abuse our planet and destroying the air we breath. But long time ago the planet was filled with volcanoes. They constantly released chemicals and volcanic ash in the air. But eventually they went away like pimples. The chemicals and gases released from the volcanoes pretty much equal what gases and chemicals that are being released today. Fact is, that our planet heals it's self no matter what is goes through. Just matters on how MUCH it goes through. If you shoot someones arms off....they're just going to turn into stubs.

Anyways about the black hole thing. Would it matter if it sucked us into a black hole? It could take the whole earth with it and we could be living in another dimension and we would be living our happy lives like nothing happened. We wouldn't know if a black hole is just a wormhole to another part of the universe with no sun were we'll freeze to death. Either way, it's possible black because the human eye can't comprehend it. It could be a rip in time for all we know or even some paradise only our soul can enter.

No reason to freak out about it, unless your the scientist holding the planet in your hands.

Because you wont know what happened to you if they screwed up anyways ^-^!

Personally, I think that if something were to happen to this planet, whether that be an end to humans, or to the entire planet, I think that it will somehow restore itself. I also believe that global warming is the major key factor to the end of life on earth. We already have the sun for warmth, why add more to the soon-to-be-fire-that-will-consume-all?

I think we need to get off this black-hole subject, it's stupid. How could mere humans create something so.... I can't even think of a word to describe something we know [close to] nothing about.

Haha... I think most ppl didn't believe the world would end.. but everyone's playing a game of 'what if'... it's fun... and harmless... unless you really believe the world would end.. then it would suck for you..

My buddy Bryan and I had a long long discussions of what if... for example, what if a micro black hole was borned and it migrated to the center of the world and sits there absorbing matter and in 50 years or 5 years will swallow up the entire planet... my position would be that there'll be chaos... and his would be that the military would take over and we'll still live in peace... it was fun..

This is one of the greatest scientific achievement in a long, long time.. and we should all be cheering for it...

I hope a warp drive would come out of this at the end of the road... I can't wait to live in a holodeck of a starship......

WOW really!? well if he's betting against the experiment, he's probably right lol. i mean come on... stephen hawking! he like, knows the most about black holes and that people who learn about black holes are basically learning about hawking's work right? well, if it does succeed i think it'd be crazy nutz and really amazing

No, it's the name of the theoretical particle they've been trying to prove for 30 years with the experiments. The LHC is only the last and the biggest of the colliders they've built so far.

That's why it's silly for people to freak out about this.

It's also silly for people to freak out over it when they don't understand physics. And I admit, the physics required to understand this experiment and its underlying equations is beyond me. That's why I listen to the evaluation of actual scientists. And they're saying it's safe.

I mean, you don't go around hospitals and say doctors will kill people if they use catheters even if you don't understand how a catheter works. You listen to the experts.
