Haha... Don't put your bets on Stephen Hawking... He's played up by the media... A lot of scientists disagree with a lot of Hawking's theories... and they think his books are a disservice to science because they are too simplistic and give a false impression of physics.. I read both of his books, btw...

Stephen Hawkings is more like a celebrity scientist.

In anycase, when it comes to quantum physics and black holes and what not, we really have no science for it... Every scientist is just as dumbfounded as you or I... so, we'll just wait and see who's right, who's wrong, etc, etc..

the Collider's purpose is to collide particles (protons) at high speed, ie, at about 99.9% the speed of light to break them apart. To see what comes out.. .what smaller particles we can create out of them (or, bigger ones?). And one particle they are hoping to find is the Higgs Boson (or, the God Particle).

The fact is simple, at this level of experimentation, no one can tell you what will happen. That's why we have to experiment. Science as we know it fails at certain levels such as say at the black holes, all the physics or mathematics we have for our physical universe fail to exist.

In pure science, one bit of information can lead to another and then another and before you know it, you'll be travelling the stars!

Uhm, well... getting sucked into a black hole is not just about popping out of somewhere and then popping into somewhere else. The gravitation they produce is so mindbogglingly powerful that it would likely rip a human to pieces if it got sucked into one. So I guess it would matter.

I'm talking about how you can't really know xD! A black hole's pressure is so immense, but then why are we worry o_o? And instant crush isn't so bad. And I was just throwing theories about the time rip and dimension thing :] considering no one's gone through a black hole and back it's interesting to think of possibilities. ^-^!

You do know. Even before you enter the black hole, every single molecule of yours will be ripped from your body, and each molecule will then be ripped apart into their atoms, which is then ripped apart into sub-particles, which will then be ripped further apart... so, you, as a person will be completely and utterly destroyed... it doesn't matter if the particles goes to another dimension or not, you, as a whole conscious being will no longer exist.

That is true, learnt that in science and watched a video in science about it, you can't survive, it's a black hole lol... instant death basically... Scientists know this as well, plus to get to another dimension if there is... we don't know lol...

Yeah, but all we are is energy right? Like, first we're organs, then we're cells, then we're molecules, then we're atoms, and then we're energy. Well science says that energy always was, always will be, and can never be destroyed. Another word for God. So what do you make of that...?
Maybe black holes are the universe's way of taking out the trash and cleaning up? XD

Exactly, it's called a cycle. And 2012 is when the cycle ends, and begins again if you want to put it that way. So it's supposed to be a "big change". In what? We don't know, but it's said to be a change/shift in consciousness. The mayan calendar is not said to just record dates, but record changes in consciousness, and celestial events. Like a map in a way. People are saying the world as we know it will end, not the world itself. Although some people also believe the world itself will be destroyed.

Have you read The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield? It's about the human population gaining a deeper consciousness in the early 2000s, somehow, and there's also mentioned something about the Mayans, and how they weren't extinct, but gained such a deep consciousness that they simply disappeared from this material dimension only to live on in a spiritual one! It's pretty freaky! I don't know whether I believe such things or not... They seemed very... strange... when I read the book, but at the same time it's darn interesting.
