Beauty or Intelligence
Would you rather be:
A. really intelligent but only decent looking
B. really sexy/pretty/cute but you're average in terms of intelligence
OR
A. If you're already really pretty... would you trade some of that beauty to be extra smart?
B. If you're already really really smart(MENSA?)... would you trade it for extra beauty?

Re: Beauty or Intelligence
Well I am smart, i am enrolled in the highest advanced level classes and i get good grades. This past school year i was on A Honor Roll with Distinction. The "distinction" part means that my GPA was even higher than 4.0 (because of my AP classes). I'm a member of National Junior Honor Society, and am in a lot of extra curricular activities including sports. I'm a big nerd, and i know it. I'm on the executive board of student council and take part in freshforce. I love science and will one day be a physics proffessor ;D. Science is my passion! <3
I've never been told i'm ugly or un-attractive. People have always told me i am very good-looking. But i don't let it get to my head. I'm proud of my hair XD. But i don't boast my looks or anything. I know i could look better, but i'm okay with how i am i guess. My avatar is a picture of me, so you get an idea? XD
I don't think that I would ever choose my looks over my intelligence. Sure if you're pretty but not all that smart, you could study and become smarter, but it's just not the same. And sure if you're a genius but are un-attractive, you could alter your looks with make-up/surgery, but then you'd be changing yourself so drastically and being kind of fake. I would never choose looks over intelligence because in the end i think intelligence will benefit you in more ways than being beautiful will.
Ultimately, no matter what you are, you should accept it because people like different kinds of people. And diversity is good ;D

Re: Beauty or Intelligence
^ Physics Professor?! Oh man, girls who like physics = sexy ;D
Yeah, I'd choose Intelligence over looks any day. I'm not exactly an academic beast, but I do enjoy learning. After all, it's your mind and personality that gets you places, not necessarily your looks only (unless you're a model or something).
Plus, I like being average looking. Not much unwanted attention

Re: Beauty or Intelligence
I like being pretty but i would certainly never never trade it for being more intelligent than i am. I'm pretty intelligent anyway, in the top 20% of my college so I'm certainly not unintelligent. I just think its nice to have a balance. Looks only get you so far in life, but they sure do give you a headstart.

Re: Beauty or Intelligence
Wow, I would love a girl that was so pretty and beautiful and stuff, and normal inteligence is fine with me, but a smart smart smart girl could help you in the long run, when your older and stuff if your still together, i would go for the smart smart with decent looks...
and I would give a little beauty for intelligence lol.

Re: Beauty or Intelligence
I'm not asking you guys to explain to me logically how being more intelligent will benefit you. What I'm asking is more along the lines of would you feel more confident if you were
A: more intelligent
OR
B: prettier
A girl I met a while ago is a MENSA genius and at first she thought she was all that because she was incredibly smart. As time passed and she had been in some relationships and had sex she felt that she would rather be prettier than smarter. She would trade her intelligence for more beauty.

Re: Beauty or Intelligence
I guess I'd go with intelligent and decent-looking. I've never been much of a beauty anyway, but I'm fairly smart. And I'd never trade any of my brain cells for a cuter face! This goes for a guy as well, btw... I'm much more likely to find a really smart guy attractive than a really pretty guy attractive. Also, I tend to get a bit scared by stunningly beautiful people... it's like I think they're unreal, and just being around them makes me feel nervous I know it sounds weird, but that's just the way it is. If, for some reason, a drop dead gorgeous guy told me that he was in love with me, I think I never would have believed him anyway. So... brains over looks anytime for me!

Re: Beauty or Intelligence
I always feel more confident in my intelligence than my looks. It just seems more important.
I wouild like to be smarter, because I do struggle some in school, especially in science.
Wehn it comes to English though, I'm brilliant, haha =P jk, but I'm pretty good at it.

Re: Beauty or Intelligence
If you're talking 50% intelligence and 100% beauty or the other way round... can I say 75/75?
Also, how are you gauging intelligence here? I'm very lacking in formal qualifications but I have a high IQ and can figure things out, I just don't get on with the educational/job systems.
The thing about being beautiful is that you can never tell who likes you for who you are or who's going to like you until something happens to your beauty. Right now my intelligence is getting me nowhere though, so... I'd rather be more beautiful.

Re: Beauty or Intelligence
I'd choose intelligence over being "pretty." Pretty tends goes away as females get older. Beauty never fades and comes from intelligence and wisdom anyways. I'm pretty confident from my general knowledge, which I think more people find 'sexy.' Even if not conventionally shown often through the general media.

For her to feel this way, she may have been intelligent. But not smart, IE. Social-know-how. There is a difference. Just as there is a difference between beauty and being "pretty."

Re: Beauty or Intelligence
I would choose to be more intelligent for the following reasons:
1. I'm comfortable with my looks - i don't think i'm unattractive thanks to the wonders of makeup xD
2. I'm interested in alot of things - My boyfriend is an engineer (I studied computer science at uni) and alot of the stuff he's learning is pretty interesting and alot of the times, I wish I could quickly pick up some of the stuff he talks about.
And I think what Enjui said is quite wise.

Re: Beauty or Intelligence
I'd choose intelligence. I consider myself very intelligent and it's the aspect of myself that I am most confident in. I'm very proud of my brain and I honestly don't know what I would do if I were of average intellect. (I'm sorry if that sounds rude - I just really love being considered so bright.) The reason I'm in the place in my life that I am in hinges on my intelligence and it scares me to think of where I'd be without it (certainly not at the university of my choice... or university at all, since without the scholarships I won, I wouldn't be attending.)
However, while I don't consider myself unattractive per se, I do find myself wishing I was prettier/sexier/more beautiful sometimes. But not enough to ever trade brains for beauty.
I would feel much less confident if I were incredibly gorgeous but lost my intelligence. I'd feel worse if people thought I were stupid than if people thought I were ugly. I'd also be afraid of guys being interested in me only for my beauty, rather than for my personality.

Re: Beauty or Intelligence
Is this some sort of trick question? I think the answer is obvious. I'd choose beauty. Why? Because intelligence is something that one can actually gain. If I really wanted to be more intelligent, I'd simply read more, have my own personal learning broaden my perspectives. Whereas beauty is almost an inborn trait that cannot be altered naturally.

I don't know... Becoming smarter is not as easy as it sounds, as it can take ALOT of time and effort to understand complex theories. It also depends on your learning style as well. Some people may take 10 hours to learn something someone else can learn in 10 mins. I interpreted intelligence as being able to easily understand complex material.

Re: Beauty or Intelligence
well, beauty is great.. but sometimes prety people are stuck up. they feel much better then others because they know they are good looking.
smart people can be the same...
hard one. I would go for beauty. why? I cat stand people around me who think they are smarter then me. and come on.. everybody will first fall for looks then for brains. since you have no clue is somebody is smart or not.
having both but not somebody that is stuck up..... SCORE!!!! hahahaha
as for your second question... Im not really smart or pretty.
I mean, yeah I study but my grades arn't nerdy. I like looking the way I do.
as for my collage... I study to be a vet assistant. so I do know a lot.
I won't trade it for anything. yeah.. I like being a bit more taller/prettier... but I cant! =)
