I've experienced exactly the same. Except that the people calling me emo weren't my friends. There are some boys at my school that always call me emo whenever they pass me, and when I'm around, they start whispering about "oh no, there's that EMO again!", just loud enough for me to notice. I wear brightly coloured outfits most of the time, so I don't get why they do it!? I mean, aren't "traditional" emos supposed to wear all black, or backed up with red or grey stripes? Are you sure they really meant it, and not just said it to tease you in a friendly way? My friends do that to me sometimes just because they know those retards call me it, but it's always jokingly.

There's nothing wrong, they just wanna make a scene. And besides, EMO has to do with EMOTIONALITY. The way you're dressing is probably more described as 'scene'. So first go correct them, and tell them that if they're your real friends, they shouldn't care what you wear.

They were probably saying that because band Ts, skinny jeans, and converse are part of the sterotype of what "emos" wear. I know tons of people who wear all those things together and some are self proclaimed "emos" and others aren't.

I wear outfits like that often. My favorite jeans are my skinny, mid-waisted (they fall at my natural waits, just below my belly button) jeans! I have a pair in grey and dark purple! And yeah, I wear them with t-shirts and my converse. I've never been called that personally, but it really sucks that your friends did that, especially since they wouldn't shut up about it. Wear what you like, and be yourself!
