everybody in school calls me EMO and i'm not><
because--
1. i'm addicted to music
2. i like emo/screamo music
3. i like wearing black
4. my favorite color is black
5. i wear ties
6. i wear those arm warmer things
i dont consider that emo.it just bugs me because my bestfriend called me emo.then one day i wore black to school and she said "thats it! were not friends anymore,i cant have an emo friend." so i lost a couple of friends because of that andit's not my fault i like dressing in black and when i dont wear black they still call me emo><

That happens to me too sometimes. Just because I wear Hot Topic t-shirts with cute robots on the they think I'm emo or something!

That has got to be the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. People like that arent worth having as friends.

Lol "back in my day" there was no such thing as emo. >.> Emo was strictly a genre of music and that is IT. Commonly confused with punk rock and pop punk. Now it seems the younger generations took it over and decided it was applicable to fashion and people too. Dumb kids. People are closed-minded.

You're not emo. You're not anything. You are you. I am me. That other person is, well, you get it. If you're happy dressing that way, then dress that way. A lot more to life than some idiot thinking they're so smart by calling you a name. Heck it's weird for me too. I have to take pills for anxiety and stuff. Not because I'm "emo" as I have had people call me, but because of a simple chemical imbalance in my brain. Now HOW the heck would I have chosen THAT? Mind you like I said, for the most part emo wasn't anything until the younger generations spread it around.

Just be yourself. I realized that after I got out of high school, all the things I missed out on because I was afraid what other people thought of me.

I had a problem similiar to yours. I have a this long chain of hello kitty phone charms on my phone and I used to wear these hello kitty key chains around my jeans. It's unbelievable how many gay comments I would get just for wearing hello kitty haha. I'd just ignore them though. I stopped wearing the keychains because they got all old and raggedy haha.

It was around a while before then. It originally started out mid-1980s, the term emo described a subgenre of punk music. It just kind for spread from there. Eventually becoming a stereotype.

And someday, I'm sure there will be. lol



I don't think the person was someone you needed to be friends with. It sounds as if they were having you as a friend out of their convince.

Yeah, since the emo/scene trend started up, I've been called 'emo' countless times as well. It's a bit annoying, but think of it this way --- Emo kids dress pretty awesome, ((In my opinion anyway,)) So who cares! =3; It's basically a compliment, and they don't even realise it. XD

I really do hate people like that. Obviously they have no clue about anything and need to label people. Before there was Emo kids got called "Goth".

I remember one time a girl in my class called my friend a goth, which was odd because have you ever seen a goth wear pink polo shirts?

And as for your friend it's probably better that your not friends because if she's willing to dump you over something so stupid; she wasn't a true friend to begin with now was she?
